Where's Oshie when you need him?
Beyond good.
I can't recall a worse set of five shootout attempts by a team.
Brutal.
But they really made it easy on him too, there was no real movement from them and they were half fumbling the puck and................They were trying to deke Askarov out but the guy is way too sharp for that.
Meh, Russian team was decidedly mediocre so waiting for Askarov to win it for them in shootout was right. For all the hype team USA couldn't do much in 5-on-5 play at all, the only one who did anything was Hughes and his 1 vs 5 heroics made him pretty predictable. I dunno why everyone here blames USA PP, it was the only time they looked good (but inefficient).

Not to take anything away from the guy though, he was brilliant all game long basically.
He certainly made the right move there.Probably the nerves. Amirov showed great composure on his goal though, the guy is quite good.
Stunning defeat. I always viewed this tournament with a bit of a jaundice eye in terms of American ability because we had certain built in advantages but I honestly believed this was the strongest group we ever had. Safe to say we have to question a few of our previous assumptions. Hope Canada wins today, would like to see at least one North American team play for gold.
Should've put Brink in over Zegras, but anyway no use quibbling over it. Hope we get a Russis vs Canada final.
