Yep, Hughes didn't expect to be forechecked like that. Nice to see that from the Russian team.

It was a real nice hard ass play, that's the way you need to play.

He did win the foot race though, the Russian steeped into him and stole the puck after Hughes picked it up. It was a soft play and he gave the puck away because of it, and his 2 teammates also did nothing to either cover the 2nd Russian in the slot or attack the puck carrier. US looks disjointed all around.

From the one team that has less of an excuse then all others to look that way.

He had a head start. He is supposed to win the foot race, but he barely did, because he didn't try hard, and when he did get there his attempt on the puck was beyond lame. That's not about talent, tha's about effort.

Agreed about his teammates. Same problem. Lack of effort.

Playing a series of games against soft opponents has not been good preparation for the semis, but it's the same for both teams.
