Curious why would you think that? IMO however good/bad you think they are, is the level they will flatline at for considerable future. For whatever it is worth, Belarus U18 was in quarterfinals last spring, so is kinda hard hard not to view them as early favorites for promotion again next December at U20 level.

They were also supposed to get promoted this year as they had the strongest team, but did not, so I would not go thinking that next year they will be going up.

Cause they are losing Grischenko, Deryabin, Sapego, Yeryomenko, Zuyev, Drozdov, Martynov and Sushko.
I'll apologize in advance for being a douche, but the sheer fact that you among those names list Grischenko and Zuyev, makes me disregard your knowledge of Belarussian hockey instantly. Grischenko can be substituted with a cardboard box in net and you won't feel the difference and Zuyev's claim to fame is that his agent found him a gig in the CHL. All these players can and will be replaced by the players of pretty much the same level.

damn 3-0 bye Denmark :( was a good 5 years... I dislike this kaz team now lol... hope germany kicks there ass next year :P

Denmark couldn't pass this whole tournament. They had a big team and a pretty fast team but no shape, no hockey IQ. Props to Belarus.

I have to disagree on Grischenko. He won't be a big loss but I feel like he got scapegoated too much the past two years for Belarus' failures, he actually was a pretty good goalie. Not a "big loss", but still something.

Don't worry about it. I don't think he has a good grasp on his namesake. He thinks Dias Guseinov as a better chance at getting drafted than Orekhov. Look at their toolkits, Orekhov even as a +1 has a like 95% of what teams look for in dmen.

Orekhov is a +2...

Yep my mistake, that was a mistake, I did know that. Same with the other big boys on this team.
I think he mentioned the others because they're draft year prospects. Which isn't a particularly strong rationale...but I digress.

Someone will take a flier on Orekhov for sure.

Predictable result.

Kazakhstan is basically Snezhnye Barsy. A mid-level MHL team getting blitzed by the big boys is expected; but they should beat Denmark. MHL = USHL.

Congrats to Kazakhstan.....not sure what went wrong with Denmark in this tournament, losing every game and getting blitzed in most of them. Expected better.

Good 5 years for Denmark:
2015 - Stole a point from Russia and Czech Republic, and beat Switzerland in a shootout to advance to the quarterfinal
2016 - Beat Switzerland to advance to the quarterfinal
2017 - Beat Finland, beat the Czechs in OT, and lost in a shootout to Switzerland, finishing 2nd in the group
2018 - Struggled in the preliminary round but swept the relegation series against a decent Belarus team
2019 - A down year for them, and they pay for it. Hope to see them back in 2021.

Damn this really takes away from Canada's monumental victory and highlight of the Tournament. :( :sarcasm:

Because there are so big differences in age groups with these small countries there should be a preliminary round. Like two groups of three. Group winners go to groups with the best six teams.

I mean we (Denmark) can barely keep up in Division A some years and it surprises people we cant stay in the best division for such a small age group? Lets be real now. Its been fantastic that we managed to stay there for 5 years.

Congrats to Denmark for staying up for 5 consecutive years. 3 straight QF appearances, and handled the relegation round in their 4th tournament well. I would've thought this year was the year to stay up, but congrats for Kazakhstan for taking 9th place. This is good for hockey.
