Kupari has created plenty of chances , I wouldn't say he's struggling.

He absolutely has, he's the supposed #1C of this team and nothing to show for.

Feels weird to go into elimination game feeling this bad about the game, just fully expecting to get embarrassed 3x in a row in NA tourney.

Canada needs a few difference makers to step up, the forward depth has actually played pretty well so far but the Anderson-Dolan line and Frost/Hayton have been extremely quiet (although Leason has impressed) other than Frost's stat padding against the Danes. The Anderson-Dolan line in particular has done nothing even though Suzuki has been a wizard on the PP and should have more to add at even strength. I think getting Bowers back into a checking role and promoting one of Veleno, Lafreniere, or Studnicka could wake them up a little bit.

I won't hit much on the D because it's been discussed to death but our best players need to be our best players. Having McIsaac back will help, he's actually impressed me so far at this tournament relative to my expectations. Phillips is the odd guy out at this point IMO but of course Hunter/others won't see it that way.

Canada can't over-pass scoring chances trying to set up the perfect goal like they did against Russia. From the slot, get the puck on net and then get to the front of the net. Not to suggest they go full Carolina Hurricanes and fire every puck at the net from every angle, but I thought they passed up a couple good scoring chances trying to make an extra move and it bit them in the ass the other night.

Finland has some sneaky depth. Canada has to get at least 3 forward lines rolling today. I'm half happy I'm sick today and will actually get to watch the game.

Lol Ahokas goes with lines that every Finnish HF member has suggesting for the past few weeks. Maybe they will actually work. :sarcasm:

Aarne Talvitie-Rasmus Kupari-Aleksi Heponiemi
Eeli Tolvanen-Anton Lundell-Kaapo Kakko
Valtteri Puustinen-Santeri Virtanen-Jesse Ylönen
Sami Moilanen-Samuli Vainionpää-Teemu Engberg
13.F Linus Nyman

Ville Heinola-Henri Jokiharju
Urho Vaakanainen-Oskari Laaksonen
Toni Utunen-Otto Latvala
Anttoni Honka

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen
Filip Lindberg

Gotta somehow coach all of these "skill" guys to play a more complete game. Let's run through them instead of trying to outskill a skill team. We do that, we win.

We have an idiot for a coach

He shouldn't be calling out his players the way he does

Idiot to many punches to the head

Two even teams based on the tournament results but home crowd will influence the refs too much and Finland's PK isn't good so that favors Canada.

Another one is the usual goalie vs goalie battle. If one team has a clear edge there during this game, then that teams is a strong candidate to win as well. I'm not going to go guessing which team's goalie will be hotter this game or if they have a tie in that department.

These would be my odds for who I think will win:
Canada 55-60%
Finland 40-45%

Not much faith in this Finnish team after losses to Sweden and USA. Canada wins 7-0

Suzuki needs to play with frost and hayton. It's so obvious I really don't understand how Hunter and co don't see it.

They need to put Scott in net the rest of the tournament. He’s clearly the better goalie as the stats don’t lie.

Lol stop your embarrassing yourself.

Quit comparing Dipietro and Scott's stats this year.

For 1 they play in a different league.

For 2, Scott plays on a stacked WHL team ranked 1 in Canada. Meamwhile Dipietro was on a horrible rebuilding Windsor team. No duh Scotts numbers will be better.

Why dont you compare Dipetros numbers this year on a bad team and Scotts numbers last year on a so and so team.

Dipietro 2.32 gaa .920 sv
Scott 3.00 gaa .909 sv

Point is stats are useless especially on different leagues.

Meanwhile team canada has assesed scott vs dipietro and summer showcase and training camp and practices and exhibition games. They feel Dipietro is better .

Might be a better tell than stats.

Very even teams IMO.

Only thing that will seperate the them is home soil advantage and finland takes a lot of dumb penalties.

3-2 Canada. 4-2 poasibly w. Empty netter.

Keys to victory for Canada tonight:

1) Stop all the fancy pass attempts in the attacking zone and get pucks to the net.

2) Stay out of the box.

3) Figure out the PP.

4) DiPietro continues his solid play.

5) Bench Bouchard.

To my surprise, most Leaf fans have beem actually pretty good and supportive of Dipietro.

You get the odd poster who puts Leafs above Canada and wants Scott in and tries to make ridiculous reasoning for it but theres no reason we should paint the whole fan base w. The same brush.

Exactly.....and because of those few clowns....the entire leafs fan pool is labelled.

Most people on these boards have seen the leafs fans come out with some serious levels of ridiculousness which has jaded many posters towards them.

But I digress, this is a not a leafs fan thread so let’s get back on topic.
