Well according the new IIHF rules it could have been, but the point is he went in to injure the opposing player, not that he wasn't penalised.

They hit knees because the guy bailed on the hit. Comtois only "elbows" that spot on the glass, because the kid was not there. Had he been there, Comtois would not have put up his hands to stop himself from hitting the boards.

What he actually did, was finish his check, and the finnish player ducked out of the way leaving his legs behind.

Not Comtois fault on that play.

Believe it or not, when guys try to bail from a hit, good hits can result in unfortunate outcomes.

The only problem is that the Finnish player unfortunately didn't know how to protect himself from a hard hit. Hopefully he's okay though

I have actually thought this of his linemates more than Kupari, He hasn’t looked that bad in my eyes at all. Like how he goes to the net and screens the goalie.

He tries hard and skates well and even goes quite well to the net. It these are all things that speedy IQ’less players like him and Puljujärvi can still do well. But being productive and doing good playmaking as his lines center - forget about it when talking about Kupari. He ain’t first of all ever going to be a center in the NHL. And I’m honestly surprised if he will ever be anything more than a 3rd or 4th line winger in the NHL. And wouldn’t be sure if he will be even that honestly.

Look up the definition of kneeing in the IIHF rulebook.

I’ll give you a hint....there has to be intent to use your knee in a hit.

Getting a knee pinched on the boards in a side stepped hit is not kneeing.
