Tough call here. The u.S will be sharper tonight, they always play us hard and vice versa.Depends on what kind of game we get.If special teams are a big factor it potentially favours the U.S but if Canada can stay displined while still playing physical and capitalizing on the chances they do get(i think they have been medicore in this respect thus far)then they will have a good chance of coming out with the victory. Most likely Pogge will have to make some good saves tonight,he'll certainly see more rubber then any previous game thus far.As usual, the team that executes better in all areas has the best chance of winning barring unforseen circumstances.Watch out for goaltending tonight,it should play a big part and i have a feeling it will be the difference in tonights game for either side.

Im so pumped for this game, thankfully the party is at MY place tonight....and honestly..I could give 2 sh*** if nobody else wants to watch the game because that is what will be on.

Thats the way to do it,the hell with them.

Just a friendly reminder, this is the game day thread for the Canada/United States game tonight. This is not the place to discuss politics, if you want to discuss politics, you may do so here:

http://hfboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=77

Anybody who chooses to turn this into a political discussion or flame war runs the risk of getting a 7 point warning for disobeying a mod. This is a big game and there will be alot of emotions, but please think before you type. Happy New Year everyone. :)

5-3 US if the US gets solid goaltending, poor goaltending and the score will be reversed IMO. It's time for Schremp to shine like he always does in big games, I just hope that Kyle gives him the minutes neccesary to get the job done. Hopefully Cogliano will get it going and do some damage for Canada as well. Canada had better stay out of the box tonight, or Schremp is coming to get you!!! Frankly, I'm un-decided as to who I want to win as both teams have great Oilers prospects and I'm a dual citizen, so I'm split in 1/2!!! As long as either Schremp or Cogs lead their team to victory, let the better prospect win IMO!!!

This game is going to absolutely ridiculous (in a good way :P). I can't make a prediction, all I can say is this game has the potential to be a great game or a dud. Lets all hope for a great game win or lose.

The game is shown live on NHL Center Ice in the US.On DIRECTV,the game will also be available live on channel 642 which requires the sports pack.Fox College Sports Central will show the game at 9pm(Tape Delay)which is the FSN North feed.On Dish,
channel 436 FSN North at 9pm

For DirectTV, Channel 641 Fox Sports North has this game (at 8:45). I don't have a 642, but you may want to check ahead on your programming guide if you do have DirecTV.

Cool, I can switch/run to watch the Giants, Devils, and this. Whole lot of yelling/cursing at the TV tonight!

Oh, meaningless prediction time: 4-2 USA. Because....no reason, I just like giving predictions like that.

It all depends on what style the refs will allow. If they let em play then I am going to say that Canada's aggressive fore checking will throw the U.S. off balance and the nucks win 4-1. If the game gets down to special teams with a lot of penalties called, then the U.S. runs away with it 6-1.

How's that for hedging my bets! :)

I'm calling Canada 5-3.

After two poor games for Canada, I can't see them lacking the spirit or emotion tonight. It seems to me that they have generally played down to the level of their opponents, perhaps because they thought games against the Swiss and Norway were in the bag. I'd assume that Sutter will have them up tonight, like they were against the Czechs and Russians in the pretournament games.

I will say USA 4 - 3.

Anybody know who is reffing this game?

Swedish ref Marcus Vinnerborg will work tonight's game

Posted this on another thread but hopefully tonight's game will be more wide open as the IIHF is not impressed with it's officials either... from the London Free Press

"We are pressing for (an improvement)," said Frank Gonzalez of Spain, also an IIHF council member.

"We are a little disappointed, like everyone else. I think there has been a misunderstanding with some of our officials and trying to go for the no-tolerance."

Gonzalez, who outlined the precise manner in which IIHF officiating supervisors guide referees each day, said there is no intent on the IIHF's part to have the referees call the games on a no-tolerance basis.

"That is impossible to do for the NHL and for us," said the former international referee, who played junior in Preston. "We are going to call what the major points are -- hooking, interference and holding."

Hopefully this message sinks in with the officials.....

As for the game itself.. it's going to be interesting... I think the U.S. will come out hard after their performance the last 2 games but Canada will be buoyed by the perceived weakness of the U.S. team. Too close to call.

Amazing that Kessel and Toews, who were both all the talk of this tournament, have yet to score a goal between them... don't see that lasting through tonight.

I'll be at the game tonight. I am just about to get ready to go. I think the Americans are going to show up tonight. Too much skill on that team. Canadians fall 5-3...

GO Canada GO

A great game by Pogge will officially make him my favorite Leaf prospect. :)

C'mon POGGEMON show'em baaastaaaaaaaaadsss...! ;)

GO CANUCKSSSSSSS!!! :handclap:

I'm hoping for a win for Canada, but my best guess would be a 3-3 tie.

For the US, it's talent and experience against solid goaltending and great coaching from Canada. I don't think physical play will be much of a factor in who wins or not because both teams play with pretty much the same intesnity, so no one really has the advantage.
