Rumor: Jared McCann available?

I mean yeah for sure, but I don't see them doing that. And honestly? Palat hasn't been THAT bad the last ~2 months or so. His newborn daughter was in the ICU at the very beginning of the year and ever since she came home, his play has been noticeably better. Now, his contract still sucks, but yeah. He isn't a total anchor on the ice. At least not yet.

I don’t see them taking Palat because he would likely block the trade and if he didn’t there’s zero chance Seattle would want him.

They aren’t going to trade McCann, and get zero cap flexibility, plus a cap dump that will cost them 10m in salary. IIRC Francis hasn’t taken salary dumps in the past.

And Palat is an anchor. I doubt we could move him in the off-season to one of his 10 approved teams even if we retained salary.

His 22 points in 55 GP is a product of playing with our best forwards and it took a 16.7% SH% to get him to 12 goals.

He’s playing with our top players because he was 6m offensive void when he was playing in the bottom six.

Palat’s definitely declined since last season and will presumably get way more worse over the next two seasons.

I can see them taking Haula, he’s a cheaper, much more useful player but we would need to replace him next year.

That make no sense for the Kraken. If the Kraken move McCann, I would expect them to be looking for a blue-chip prospect likely to step in by 2026-27 at the latest.

Apart from that, it seems like a pretty dismal return to me. If the best piece in the trade is a 1st round pick in the 15-20 range in a draft lacking depth, it's certainly not worth it for us.

It looks like Haula has a full no trade clause through this year that turns into a 6 team no trade list next year. So he’s not going anywhere until next year. I think we’re stuck with our turds for now.

Put him on waivers and let Grier take him for free. A page from Chris Drury's playbook.

Fitzgerald hands out NTC's and NMC's like candy.

Only way you trade Nemec is if the organization knows he's not a long term fit...Two years of any player aren't worth giving up a guy who can potentially play another ten with your team...Very shortsighted and McCann is good and needed but will want that last big contract which means he's gone in two years...

the Devils window is now. and I would not give Nemec away for just anyone.

1st, Blue Chip prospect, would probably get it done.

Something like a 1st and Lekkerimaki from Vancouver. But as a Canucks fan I wouldn't do that.
What do you mean by "blue chip"? Most teams don't trade their top prospect unless they are getting a superstar back. McCann is really good, but he's not a superstar. The good news for Seattle with him, is that he has long enough on his contract that it isn't going to be only contenders interested, a deal for McCann could make sense for nearly every team in the league that could make room for him as a top six LW.
