Give it a rest on Fleury. That was a fluke goal and the fact of the matter is, Canadian skaters had their worst game of the tournament as well. Not to take anything away from the US who played a heck of a game, but Canada's play was sloppy in the first and third periods in their own zone.

Fleury practically single-handedly lost us the gold. Throughout the whole tournament the commentators tried to justify his play. "Looks a bit shaky." Thanks for scoring the game winning goal on yourself.

ease up on fleury. He feels bad enough. It's a team game so pointing the finger is just cruel. Montoya stole the show.

The USA were persistent and hard working. I don't know if saving their bottom-six forwards for the third was a strategy but it sure paid off as they seemed to catch the Canadians flat-footed. The Americans deserved that game.

But holy crap, Fleury on that winner...

Congratulations to the USA! I haven't seen the game, but they obviously never gave up and played 60 minutes of outstanding hockey. A well-deserved gold.

I'm starting to really not like Fleury. All tournament long he has been average, and his flopping antics are getting old fast. He showed ZERO composure, and was far from being anything close to a leader or a backbone for this team. He was fine in the blowout games, but against real competition he falls apart.

Team USA came back, and they deserve all the credit in the world, but the 3rd and 4th goals were just lame. Canada didn't play well in the third, but the team in front of him didn't completely fall apart. This is a case of the goalie letting every one down. This is the second year in a row Fleury hasn't been able to get it done.

:handclap: USA!!!!!!!! Wooo hoooo we finally have a gold

Cue: "what if's" , "we should have", ref bashing, name calling etc......

Don't worry, that won't happen because we all know that the winning goal wasn't a complete fluke, Canada wasn't missing over 6 of it's best players and Mark Stuart should not have been kicked out for doing the same tihng Phaneuf did except he actually deserved a penalty.

Oh, and Marc Andre Fleury was playing the game of his life too by the way.

ease off on Fleury, he feels bad enough already. Montoya stole the show, again. It's a team game, so pointing the finger is just cruel.
Congrats again to the USA.
On a lighter note: at least murray didn't score the winner hehe. Imagine the firestorm that would've caused.

It's funny that some fans were saying Fleury was the best thing since sliced bread last year and now some fans are saying he ain't worth a jock strap full of urine.

There's no in-between at HF :p

The coaches couldn't tell Fleury sucked from the get go? Give the job to the best guy.

To those who said that Fleury was bad... What about trying to go in net when your team plays like they did in the third period?

The guy is a complete bust? LMAO! Tell me that's a joke?

Durocher said it perfectly when Gord Miller congratulated him and the team on getting at least another medal.

"Yeah, that's right. It's not the good one though."

Big disappointment. At least we lost to the best though. I was happy to see Devils prospect Zach Parise get tourney MVP. Gives Devil fans something to look forward to.

Agreed it was an excellent game, and for 45mins Canada, in my opinion, deserved to win the game.

However, as we all know, a game is 60mins, not 45.

The USA had a TON of talent on their team this year...that was clearly evident. Montoya was excellent in net AGAIN. He made some big saves to keep that game close.

Fleury did the same for Canada, especially where he dove back in the 2nd period and threw his glove up!

It was a very exciting game, and I mean, for Canadians it's too bad it ended the way it did....for Americans, obviously they're going to be extactic.

One thing I can't get over is why Durochier didn't call a Time Out following the Kesler goal, when it was CLEAR that Canada had started to lose a little composure and were running around. That boggles my mind a little bit.

But what can you do right?

It was a damn good game, too bad for Fleury and Paille and the rest of Team Canada...Congrats to Team USA obviously, and to their fans...NEXT YEAR(man I hate saying that) will be a different story though :p 13 potential returnees...Not that I want a lockout...BUT......if it means WJC gold...BRING IT ON!

Wow. Im in complete shock. How Canada blew another third period lead for the third straight year. On the positive side, Marc-Andre made some big saves for Canada in the second period, especially that rubber man save where he robbed O'Sullivan.

Canada just let up in the third and felt secure, FOR SOME STUPID REASON, it seems to me. I for sure thought Canada players in the dressing room during the intermission knew about the two previous years and blowing a lead in the third period and would come out like gang busters.

Montoya made some huge saves to keep the States in this game. Big difference maker here. Most notably Crobsy nifty play when he absoulutly robbed him with the glove hand, and somehow got Getz's chance.

Still shaking my head in amazment.

I'll say it again for the 6th straight year in a row.... maybe next year? :dunno:
