'It's a great day' for USA Hockey. This has been a longtime coming. Very few people here in the States care about the WJC's, so every year its difficult for fans like me. Hopefully one day we'll get at least one TV crew to cover the tournament....

As for the Canadians, you guys had a great team, just didn't play the full 90 minutes to the best of their ability. Hey, at least you've gotten a medal in the last 6 tournaments.

I'm too angry right now to post anything really rational.

Essentially an exciting game, very evenly played. Props to the States for a good game, and Canada had a great tournament in a year where we werent the favourites.

But I just can't help but be so F'N Bloody pissed off that we lost on that goal. I even broke my tv controller. Somebody upstairs just doesn't like us.

Congratulation, USA!

Your team played a 60 minutes games which we didn't so you deserves the game.

And for the guys bitter towards Fleury, the story of the game is the team sucking big time in the 3rd period and they got what they deserved.

Good game.

Congratulations.

Hats off to Montoya, Parise, and all the rest of the fine American players.

Booooooo Murray... still don't like him.

:handclap: USA!!!!!!!! Wooo hoooo we finally have a gold

Cue: "what if's" , "we should have", ref bashing, name calling etc......

It's called speculation. It's creates interesting discussion.

Damn that Fleury. He got progressively worse as the tournament went on... It's not all his fault though.

It's OK, we'll get em' next year. On the plus side, if there is a lockout, Horton and Bergeron will join the team and the international communtiy can experience the full power of Team Canada instead of half.

Good game by USA though.

Man, I hate that Fleury guy.

He ruined our chances to sweep pretty muche very international tournament this year!

LYNCH FLEURY! ;)

I was extremely unimpressed with the effort a few of the Canadian players gave, especially late in the game when it was all on the line. Getzlaf and Burns specifically.

Fleury played real well, it's a shame the game winner had to be of the fluke variety. The US forwards were skating by the Canadian blueliners like they weren't even there.

Hell yes!

That makes skipping school this morning worth it.

Wow...I knew it would be close just not in the favor of the US.

And poor MA Fleury....boy is he going to hear about this for awhile.

Good job USA!! Go Stephen Werner...Way to represent!!

Do you believe in miracles? Yes!!!!

USA wins 4-3.

OK... a miracle is a bit of a stretch but hey, the movie is coming out soon so I thought I should allude to it.

How about that for a fearless prediction. I shall take my bow.

Some of the saves he made in that 2nd period were unbelievable, even for him.

Well the U.S. deserved this one for sure. They outplayed us for the 1st and 3rd periods, and there's absolutely no excuse for losing a 2 goal lead with 20 minutes left. Montoya was good but I think the main reason Canada lost was because they didn't play very physical at all. Maybe the U.S. didn't let us with their good transition play, but you'd think that Canada would have come out harder. Oh well...the U.S. had to win gold sometime, at least it was fun to watch. Congrats to them.

Congrats USA on their first gold.

Too bad that no one will remember Canada dominated the whole tournament except the final 20 minutes...let this be a lesson to future teams...revenge in the World Cup.

Congrats to the USA

On the bright side for Canada, hopefully most of this Canadian squad will be back next year with 1 more year of experience. And Crosby will be 1 year older.

Feels great as a longtime fan of USA Hockey. If only this country actually paid attention to such a terrific tournament....

Hats off to Canada, a great Tourny.

Give it a rest on Fleury. That was a fluke goal and the fact of the matter is, Canadian skaters had their worst game of the tournament as well. Not to take anything away from the US who played a heck of a game, but Canada's play was sloppy in the first and third periods in their own zone.

This is a sad day for Canadian hockey. :(

No it isn't. This is a sad day for Team Canada 2003, that's all. They thought they'd win easily.. They were leading 3-1, oh how can life be easy but... They choked, they lost. I have no pity for them and I am angry at Team USA. You get what you deserve.

WE WON!!!!!! What a great game. I wonder who will draft Montoya this coming year.

Kind of sad to see all the Fleury bashers on here. Flukey play. Fleury had to play the puck b/c his defense gave up a breakaway for O'Sullivan (U.S.'s sniper), unfortunately Coburn turned his head right when fleury shot the puck away, leading to the GWG. Unfortunate and flukey. The other goals were all well earned, good shots by both teams. You can't fault Fleury's play in this game, save for that last goal. Cut the man some slack. What does he have to look forward to? Going home to be shelled by the Penguins? :(

Congrats to Team USA and the people of USA. However this deciding goal was embarrassing and IMO this game and this tournament deserved more. Team USA showed that they are fighters who just won't give up. A good team has luck and tonight two lucky goals to team USA.

Canada won all their games except the final. Bad luck but I wish good luck for them for the next one.
