I like what I've seen from Cormier.

Garand wasn't great but he didn't let in anything that made me lose faith in his ability.

Entertaining first period, lots for both teams to work on. Canada was very loose and it won't work against stronger teams. Good effort by the Czechs, tough luck with the injury.

You guys deserved the 3 straight penalties that changed the direction of this game but we deserved a 5 minute major for your chance to turn it around at the end. I'd be pissed if I was you. Your sportsmanship here is admirable. Good luck the rest of the way.
I hated that hit (at any level and any league) and thought it should've been 5 and a game but that didn't affect the outcome of the game. It was over the second Jiricek left. And, even before that, I didn't think we were winning. I was enjoying it till then though.lol Literally, the ONLY thing I cared about was injuries in a schedule loss. And here we are!

Power, Bedard and lot of others. But you could be right in that some of your players need to step it up when the playoffs begin and guess what, they most likely will ;) I´m thinking of Wright and some others. He has not impressed me and so far I can't understand the fuzz.
That´s the thing though, you can win against a decent Czechia without every player showing up. In my books that could be a sign of strength. I believe Sweden could be up there with you guys this year. I thought Russia as well but they have some serious problems with their goaltenders. 12 goals in 2 games...
I dunno, I am not liking what I am seeing so far but like you said, it's early.

I sure wouldn't count Russia out either, if they clean some things up they could beat anyone. Goaltending is a major concern for them right now though, true.

I'm very interested in the CZE vs FIN game, I think they can compete with the Finns this year.
If we get back Jiricek and Krutil is in.. then maybe we can keep it close. Finns are awesome though and they are really good at beating us. I just hope we can eke out a win against Germany tomorrow and HOPE we beat Austria. mostly though, I just want a good report on Jiricek who every bit looked like a Top 10 pick to my eyes.

Kent Johnson:

0 assists
0 goals
0 shots on goal
13:40 TOI.

ouef.

The one that bugged me was towards the end, where he got stopped on a rush along the boards and just.. stopped trying. Didn’t stop right away, didn’t battle for the puck, just slowly went for a line change. I get it, game is probably over and you don’t wanna take a penalty, but you can still skate dude.

Have not been impressed with him at all in the pre-tournament game or this one.

Ya, I’ve never really watched him before, I’ve heard he hasn’t been as impressive lately- but dear lord, Bedard looked worlds better. They’re on the same friggin line, but Bedard had the puck a lot more and did a lot more with it. It’s one game, I can’t judge too harshly, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens if his whole tourney goes like that.

Said it in the Kent Johnson thread
His own coaches have noted it at Michigan

Kent Johnson is not great at zone entries
He is prone to turn it over in that area
Beniers is the primary handler through the neutral zone on that line for the Wolverines

great player
But you see it in this game, he turns it over in that department

Is there a spot on the ice where he didn't turn it over tonight?

If Power can add this style (not production) to Buffalo next year they’ll be a challenger for a playoff spot. As little “talent” as they have on their squad they play an exciting style that fits his game and have a young group buying in.
