it was a joke: he forgot:). I heard Bob McKenzie say it 2 days ago but had to google as I couldn't remember what he said as I'd never heard that name/word before. Wow 2016. Nice, I like Czechia!

TLDR as Czechia hasn't been used in NA media much Czech Republic is habit, no offense. edit: listed in guide Czech Republic vs. Canada I knew I saw that :)

Canada 5 Czechia 2

Outside of being a Canada fan, this is one of the bigger things I wanna watch tonight. How will Jiricek handle Canada's offense coming at him every shift

Smaller ice with time and space taken away very quickly. Canada comes in waves on the forecheck, hopefully they come out and play the right way.

Pretty pumped for today’s games.

This will be one of the more interesting teams that Canada plays in the first round.... considering that Canada faces Czechia, Austria, Germany, and Finland in the first.
Huge upset if Czechia wins... but anything can happen with a hot goalie and the first game is always a bit of a wild card game.

He will be displaying his elite backward skating skills all night.

In theory, Czechs have good D but not many forwards to support that D.

For Canada to win - Score the first goal.
For Czechs to win - Score the first 5 goals and hang on!

I'm assuming the Canada strategy for first 10 minutes is dump it in, run them over, pass it around and score often.

I'm assuming the Czech strategy for the first 10 minutes is a combo of hopes and prayers. If they can get out of first and it's close they might be able to make it interesting.

The Czech strategy for the opening 10 mins or so is probably going to be about keeping their game simple, playing with the puck a lot, be it just along the boards, force frequent stoppages in play, make the ice look slow. You have to start a game like that when you are playing a team this skilled. The important thing is to not allow the opponent this strong to lock you in your own zone. Just clear the zone every time you have the opportunity to do so.

Looks like Garand is starting?

why not Cossa? Or will Cossa play the next game?

Cossa looked pretty bad in the pre-tournament whereas Garand was very solid and saved everything except for that one flukey goal that went off the dman.
