With Lindstrom missing the entire year due to injury you gotta think Columbus regrets not taking the deal from KD.

We missed out on Demidov but it sure looks like we'll end up with Schaeffer, Misa, Hagens, or Martone.
Not a bad consolation prize.
Shoot they probably regret not just taking Demidov themselves.

It's an interesting exercise- I would probably take Schaefer and Misa over having done the deal at this point (mostly in consideration of what else would have been included in the trade as I think Demidov is a comparable talent to each of them), but would take the deal over Hagens or Martone. Given the uncertainty of where that pick will land as of today, I would probably pull the trigger

Franchise level 1D and potentially franchise level 1C or a winger.... yeah, Demidov is easily 3rd for me.

But there is also no guarantee we even draft 2OA and it could be Demidov v Martone v Hagens. In that case I'd probably be pretty disappointed to have Hagens or Martone opposed to Demidov.

I'd have absolutely no idea what going to Turkey is about, except Meta had just showed an ad for hair transplant tourism there moments ago in another browser tab...

Tons of people go to Turkey to have hair transplants done.

I’ve seen funny videos from inside cafés in Turkey where there’s like 10-15 people in there that all recently had the procedure done hahaha

Teeth too. Also in nearby Greece.

Levshunov on the ice vs. Jiricek and with Korchinski. I, for the life of me, cannot see how talent evaluators have those guys in the same stratosphere. Jiricek 2 years older and not even close. 3 points in 10 games. Levy is PPG lately

Some will still bitch despite having a stud top pairing RD for the next 20 years.
I have said multiple times, Demidov was the safety pick. He looks great and wings are easier to project. All D men carry more risk, but Lev has a crazy physical skill set. If Lev becomes a top pair Dman (especially RH) those are far harder to find then scoring wingers. Ya hugh flying wingers are great on fantasy teams, but top D corps lead to Stanley cups.

I have always loved the Renzel pick as well, while he was a lot more risking then Lev, he had those natural physical skills. Imagine if bith Rinzel and Lev reach their upside. Good lord two top line type RH defenders on the same team now that is rare.

I know some people will complain and say the rebuild is taking to long and what not. But I think they did it the right way, build out the D core with high talent and depth. Once the D is built it is far easier to sign/trade for scoring forwards vs top Dmen.

This is honeslty crazy.

He doing that thing again where he takes some time to adjust to the new league and once he gets acclimated he explodes. Each year lol.

I'm becoming a fan. He might always leave some to be desired defensively and effort wise but the package is truly tantalizing.

Skating and generating offense, he could be a Makar light in terms of style.

Major points to Davidson for not caving in to public on the pick. He knows. You pick the other guy and you’re Toronto. Once you have 3-4D and a center or two roster building is easy.

I will say that they both will be fantastic players and probably Demidov will be slightly "better". But there are a ton of great wingers, and I hope our Jones experiment has taught us there are almost no good RHD.

Meanwhile, this current streak for Levshunov is not a fluke. He's still second in AHL D shots. at 125. Lardis' 60 goals and Levshunov 125 shots are the two most impressive stats this season for Hawks prospects. Nearly 3 shots a game. Look at that comparison to Moritz Seider and Seider put up 50 points as a true rookie in the NHL.

We may need to revise our Levshunov offensive stat projections up from the 50 point D. I also have much preferred him running the PP over Korchinski. He is so calm back there. He reminds me of Keith Yandle on the PP.

Every time I see Jiricek in person, I'm left wondering what Minnesota saw in him. I'd struggle to give Toronto's first for him. Actually, I'd say no.

It feels like Jiricek is just riding out his time in the AHL until he can head back home. Not sure if this is true, but he doesn't appear to be any better than he was when he was 18 and his weaknesses (skating and strength) haven't improved at all.

I only saw the second period but the consistency issue is still there. One play he has a bad giveaway in the middle, comes back but plays the winger too tight and the Wild get a breakaway. After a faceoff win in the D zone he kicks it back to his D partner who had 3 Wild players closing in on said partner, like wtf? Then after that another bad giveaway in the neutral zone leading to a chance the other way, oof. Watched the wrong period for sure, but he's still quite raw.

The fact that he is so raw is what makes it even more impressive what he is doing. I would be somewhat concerned if he didn’t seem like a coach able kid, but by all accounts he is a beloved teammate and wants to learn.
