WJC at the Olympics?

It would be interesting, but the teams that qualified for both aren't the same, so really it would be impossible to do

I rather go for either of the two options of having it best on best tournament and as that is not going to happen, or distinguishing it as Olympic hockey with U23 players for example. It is true that the format used in Olympic soccer is rated low on appreciation but it has always been that way, even before introducing U23 teams.

There's already Euro Hockey Tour where the players from Europe play in during the season. Having EHT all over again under different label is to me the least attractive format. In any scenario China should get an exempt to have their Kunlun team to participate to keep them competitive.

Not exactly. EHT involves Russia, Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland. The non-NHL Olympics involves other hockey powers as well (and one of them, Germany, almost won in 2018). Yes, it sucks to have no NHLers there, but that's how it's been before 1998. And if you think of it, it's better than all those times when Soviets won, because now Russia (as well Czech Republic and Slovakia) does not have that artificial advantage that USSR and Czechoslovakia had back then.

This is what the olympics should be anyway.
Play the WJC normally for 3 years, 2 in North America, one internationally then in the 4th year they play in the olympics.

I don't disagree there. The Olympics is supposed to showcase the best in the world, not useless plugs.
I doubt that you belong to the top 5% of the world in whatever you do for living so you are a useless plug by your very own definition

And no one wants to see me at the Olympics.
Mm? A lot of good hockey with fifteen one-goal games as opposed to just nine both in 2014 and in 2010.
Played by terrible hockey players. No one wants to watch Andrew Ebbett.

Well, that doesn't seem to be the case in two most popular sports: hockey and soccer.

Maybe move hockey to the Summer Olympics?

Then why would anybody want juniors in the olympics? All of them, sans a small handful, are currently worse than the useless plugs of the professional hockey world.
