What was most notable for me was the absence of puck skills from the forwards and complete absence of team cohesion overall. Very disjointed.

I think they need to restructure their strategy top to bottom starting with whoever built this team.

Also maybe a practice or two next time to build some chemistry would be nice.

Terrible roster selection, terrible coaching, terrible preparation.

Agreed. I wonder if they just built a team from say, the Knights, the Silvertips and the Wildcats (the top teams in CHL per league), would they have gotten a better result just due to built-in chemistry?

Probably but put himself in a position to get a call on a useless hit. On the whole, a very undisplined effort. You could almost bet the final blow would result from taking a penalty.

This Canada team was maybe the worst team I have witnessed at a WJC. Stupid coach, low IQ players and evident lack of skill in that top 9. They looked totally hopeless out there.

Hockey Canada has needed a full purge for ages. You still have a few dinosaurs making such stupid decisions. Dave Cameron had no business coaching at this level in 2024/25.

How would that work though? USNTDP plays in the USHL and is a feeder for NCAA.

Of the 10 most X-factor players they had available they brought maybe 2 of them. No other country operates like this and no other country consistently loses tournaments because of decisions like this.

The 'no practices' thing was also beyond incredible. Like actually WTF.

That Virtanen and Joe hicketts debacle wasn’t even close and they were playing that insanely talented Finnish squad with Laine and Pool Party who had like a 95% powerplay

No idea, just saying it would be nice if you could have one playing in the OHL or something. NCAA eligibility no longer an issue, but I bet CHL teams would fight against it.

The general mindset of this team was like if Canada didn't take Nathan MacKinnon to the Olympics because they already had McDavid and took Brandon Tanev instead.

Likely the worst Team Canada at the WJC. The 98' team lost to Kazakstan but they had a tough group and played a very good Russian team in the quarter final.
