As far as disappointments go, people are focusing too much on Edvinsson. We've seen Edvinsson play much better for like 95% of the last calendar year.
Niederbach however is going into a huge year and timing-wise this tournament is right on track for him (same time as SHL pre-season), and on this forward group he had an opportunity to step up. He basically showed nothing. I have zero concern for Edvinsson, but a lot for Niederbach.
I'm always torn on Niederbach. Whenever I watch him play, he seems to demonstrate all of the tools I want to see out of him. I'll see a nice dangle, him using his feet well to catch his man, a deceptively hard shot, or a really smart, a smart pass... But it just doesn't seem to add up to results most of the time. I like the package that I see there, but I worry that he just doesn't have that magical combination of IQ, tenacity and motor to really be effective.

Excited to see how Edvinsson does at camp, wasn't very impressive here but it's hard to gauge why. I did expect him to look like he did in that one cancelled tournament. He was dominant there.

If he's not ready then he's not ready. Won't make him a bust if he needs that extra year like Seider.

Not expecting Edvinsson to make camp from that showing
Give us a break, The whole Swedish team is basically garbage, They had a 5 on 3 PP and couldn't do diddly squat. Can hardly blame Edvinsson for Sweden's lackluster play.

The whole Swedish team was pure garbage last night, it basically looked like they didn't even want to be there. Edvinsson was still one of the better players on the ice. Even though that's not saying much.

Think Niederbach may just be too slow and physically limited to make the NHL as he just seemed too slow to be effective in even the WJC. Once he gets up to full speed he's ok in a straight line and they did use him for some entries by dropping the puck to him.

He also played a puck possession role, but seemed to lose every challenge and puck battle (similarly to the rest of his team). Echo everybody else that this seems like a defining year.

I’m not worried about Edvinsson’s WJC… small sample size and he was hurt/sick for a few games.
Same. What he showed, for me, was that his skating, carrying the puck, and pass out of the zone are still elite. Let's see what he does with a forward group that isn't centered around Captain Knucklepuck.

Since I have no expectations of Niederbach, this tournament is about what I expected of him. No NHL future aside from a cup of coffee due to some injuries.

Not expecting Edvinsson to make camp from that showing

I wouldn’t sweat it man. Just about everyone on Sweden played worse than their individual skill levels. That’s 100% on coaching.

We saw Edvinsson play a strong defensive and puck moving game in Frolunda against tougher opponents and be more successful. I expect him to come to Detroit’s camp and carry on in that direction.

He may have also recognized that he wasn't going to get the PP time and that Andrae was the focus of the offensive "system" and said, "Cool story, bro," and just did what he could. Edvinsson definitely didn't seem to be as engaged as he was in December. Probably means that his food poisoning/injury-tweak-thing happened right before the tournament and he didn't want to make it worse.

That might be part of it. I really do think that coaching is the bigger part of the problem. Monten doesn’t let players play their individual games. You have a group of strong puck moving defenders and the only guy that seems to have free reign to skate the puck up ice is Andrae.

Edvinsson should probably start in Grand Rapids. No need to rush him and if he excels there, then bring him up. He still has all the potential in the world.

What’s wrong with what i said. He had an ok tournament. Not great by any means but but horrible either. If he plays like that in camp he’ll be in the AHL to start. If he plays like he did in December he’ll more than likely make it out of camp.

Everything?

"Not expecting Edvinsson to make camp from that showing"

He's already "made camp" by virtue of being a Red Wing prospect.

Like i said, He's playing with a team that barely has any offense. He'll be playing with much better players in Detroit. There's no comparison.
