And now the Leafs board is going to go nuts and call Kapanen the next big thing :sarcasm:

Way to go Finland. Always liked you guys, even if you did knock Canada out this time.

I am so happy. Only Olympic Gold or World Cup to Finland or Stanley Cup to Sharks (or maybe even beating Kings on playoffs) could be more awesome thing what could happen on hockey! Also so proud of our team. What a win on OT by Kapanen who missed open net earlier the game and struggled with goal scoring! And I will say it again one more time. We should've drafted Rantanen!

And those who was wondering Kamenev slashed off-ice official's hand which started to bleed when he went to the penalty box.

I added this later but big props to team Russia. They showed hart and effort making that 3rd goal only six seconds third period left and played very well. And I feel sorry for Georgiev. He did his best he could and that goal was by no means his fault.

I've always liked the WJC games, ever since the 1998 ones where Olli Jokinen led Finland to gold. Such unbridled energy, sometimes mistakes, plenty of physical play and emotion.

It is also great that Russians didn't win after the assault on an off ice official by their captain. Again, a disgrace for the game from Russia in an international competition.

holy ****, Sami Kapanen's kid.

I am so old.

OLD

Yeah, you should look into that. I heard it sucks.

Both Sami and Kasperi played on the same team in the Finnish league the year Kasperi got drafted. It was also Sami's last year playing.

The Kapanens have a nice hockey lineage going. Sami's father, Hannu, played well over a decade in Europe during the 70s.

I wish I was able to watch that game live. What a roller coaster of emotions it must have been for both of those teams (and fans). Congrats Finland.

Congrats Finland! I've always liked you guys and was cheering for you despite the fact that you knocked Canada out.

And Jwec you've got me wishing we took Rantanen too :p. It's done now though, we just have to hope Meier pans out.
