Not really sure where this fits (either in this thread or the rumors/roster discussion one.)

I'm thinking out loud here/throwing ideas out here. We all know that it's a copycat league. I assume most of us here know that over Reddit, Facebook, X, etc.

Verbeek wants to build a team that's tough to play against. Unfortunately, I don't see that coming to fruition in quite some time (Unless we draft/sign FAs)

If we want to have a team like Florida who has a crash and bang style/super hard to play against shouldn't we be looking at getting those type of players? Or bring in a coaching staff who employs a high intensity game?

I am not sure our current forward group can handle playoff intensity. We should be putting an emphasis on size if we ought to be successful.
Signing UFAs to copy the cup winners is

NHL.com just put out an article 2 days ago having him 3rd for defensemen, behind Levshunov and Buium

Edit - graphic is from the 9th.
This is hard because the "amateur" scouts I trust the most are Elite Prospects and Dobber, both of which are very low.

I think especially with a guy in the KHL, the NHL scouts have to have the better feel though. They may have seen him live and have more looks then the amateurs.

Krebs, Holtz, Lysell, Kemmel, Fantilli. That would be our “core” going off consolidated rankings from Dobber prospects if everyone went with consensus from 2019-2023.

Caufield, Rossi, Edvinsson, Kasper, Fantilli is Mckenzies list that generally tracks NHL scouts lists. Looks to me NHL scouts may get things wrong, but definitely going off the two lists prove they know what they are doing. Although probably still early to tell on some of those guys.

Ya I don’t count McKenzie in that. His list is not based on amateur scouting.

I hate to even mention this but it is information so do with it what you will. On "The Sick Podcast" today (around the 26 minute mark) ex-scout Grant Mccagg said the latest he is hearing is that Verbeek may not want to take a Russian at 3OA and the Ducks are very high on Yakemchuk and Sennecke. Mccagg is connected but oh boy that would be quite the surprise if the Ducks took either of them 3OA. I'm taking it with a huge helping of salt.

I find that somewhat odd. When teams talk trade there are always two sides to the conversation and while one side may be tight lipped, the other may feel the urge to leak things. But when it comes to amateur scouting there's no reason one team would ever discuss their thoughts with another team. So I find it odd this guy claims he "heard" this as opposed to it all being his own speculation.

Amusingly enough Pronman has Yakemchuk at #3.

Sennecke Seems more like a “bundle a few picks to move up from 31” pick

I tried to find the Carlsson vs Fantilli video hosted by The Recrutes, feature McCagg and another guy (forgot his name). That video doesn't exist on The Recrutes page any longer. McCagg was so high up on Fantilli and didn't think Carlsson was on the same level. The other guy said Carlsson is the better prospect now and going forward to be the #2 ranked prospect. He was pretty bold on that prediction and it came true. Unfortunately, that video doesn't exist any more.

Meh, anaheim does generally have good reads on dmen... maybe they see something.

I prefer Yakemchuk over Saliyev tbh.

He talks to a lot of hockey people and scouts (being an ex-scout himself) and everything he says he phrases as "I was talking to people..." or "I heard from people...". So this could be accurate information but I'm just not sure...but Yakemchuk is the ultimate boom/bust and Sennecke belongs nowhere near the 3OA discussion.

Please draft Yakemchuk he is my top pick at 3rd OA

As crazy as all the pre-draft chatter has been, I fear what this place will be like after the draft, regardless of who we pick. :help::laugh:

Eh... probably nothing and everyone will say, "I believe in Madden." and "I'm gonna do research on this guy now." This is nothing compared to the McTavish draft. It's the later picks that will probably pose more of a bite like Gaucher and Myatovic.

Sennecke has the highest upside in the draft imo. I’d be thrilled if we took him 3rd. Cutter- Carlson- Sennecke top line would rock.

Didn’t he have off ice issues? I thought I remember maybe @Static mentioning that? Or was that someone else? I’m not a fan of guys with off ice issues at 3OA.

I can understand him or any other scout having an opinion of what the Ducks or any team might do. But he should just say it that way. I'm calling BS that he actually "heard" what the Ducks were up to.

Oh, I have no doubt he heard it...the questions are (1) from who? and (2) is the source credible? and (3) is it more than one source? We won't get any answers to those questions unfortunately.

I don't know. You could probably make the case that whoever we end up with should have been taken at 10. LoL! I think a lot of people will be like, WTF? and then say "well, I hope I'm wrong and they're right".

IIRC, there was a lot of displeasure here over the drafting of Hampus at the time. A lot of people wondered who the hell he was. A lot of jokes about him riding the TdF due to his off the charts VO2 max. Very few people thought it was a good pick at the time.

I'm not sure about Sennecke but when the Sirius guys were discussing Yakemchuk they alluded to off ice issues that might knock him down in the draft but they didn't elaborate.
