Would you rather have smallish Daniel Briere or big Rick Nash or Joe Thornton in the playoffs?

Size is an advantage when the skill level is similar. It is NOT in this case. Cooley is the more skilled player by a bit.
This has to be one of the worst example ever. Daniel Briere has playoff beast. Pretty sure we beat Flyers if Briere signed with us lol. Rick Nash did nothing in the playoff vs Briere.

I would rather have Daniel Briere in the playoff.

None. I like winners. None won the Cup… The size and skill discrepancy between Cooley and Slaf is too much. And the skill discrepancy is too little. Curent production be damned. Classic case of grass is greener on the other side. If we’d have Cooley in the team instead of Slaf, I’d be much more concerned about playoff success in the next few years.

Slaf’s upside is more interesting given his size. He’s been a bit of a dazed turd this season. It could really be the case that Big Boys Take (Much) Longer.

Cooley’s a really cool player himself and every time I see him in a highlight reel he’s doing good stuff.

Whatever happens — hockey historians are eagerly watching.

Brière 116P in 124 playoff games

Teams win Cups not individual players. You take Pat Maroon over Thornton with that logic?

Early, but I prefer Cooley at the moment.

Tough to pick against a player like Slaf who brings such a unique skillset, but the center with 1C upside that can fly gets my vote currently.

Don't get me wrong I love Slaf, but my pick back then was Cooley and it still is now!!

Now don't bash me, I'm happy regardless, but Cooley would have been a great fit for us down the middle for years to come.

It could have been a lot of fun had they taken Cooley and not traded for Dach and picked Nazar. Then instead of Reninbacher if they picked Leonard, we could have a Nazar Cooley Leonard line that would be interesting to build around. But we'll see what happens, it's usually a long process so we'll see how Slaf, Reinbacher, Dach all turn into as they all at least have NHL size. With Hutson/Caufield you would have to worry about another undersized star player I would think.

Leonard over Michkov?

Taking Kulich over Mesar would be a nice do over as well.
