He doesn't have a choice

He actually kinda does. Assuming multiple teams offer the $20M-max bid, he's allowed to talk to each team that did so. I feel like teams will put up the $20M even if they know they aren't going to sign him, if just to talk to him and feel the process out.

Braves are supposedly asking for Jorge Soler for Miller, so the price is very high.

Who is this player that plays great defence, because it sure as hell isn't Revere.

After the crap we've watched in LF the past few years, Revere looks like a GG  Melky, Carrera.... (pillar was okay for the time he played there ;)).

He's the opposite of Bautista. Good range, noodle arm.

I don't see what the issue is with Revere. People really need to layoff. This guy only came in here when he did and solidified a position of weakness flawlessly. How can anyone harp on what he brings to the table.

Give your head a shake people.

I'm assuming it is one of Leake/Kazmir that the Jays are interested in.

There's going to be so much competition for those guys because of lack of compensation picks. Wasn't it Leake that said he wanted to play on the west coast? Maybe that was Kuma.

Possibly, not sure.

Stroman
Estrada
Kazmir
Happ
Dickey

^ I could live with that.

You're completely misunderstanding the reasons that people would rather see Revere traded.

I still don't understand what the Jays plans are this off season. I see no urgency to plug positions of need.

I do not have a good feeling with EE and Bautista. If these are the only moves that they intend to make then I suggest we trade one of them now to plug other holes. Getting nothing else this off season will make the inevitable happen which is we will struggle.

Atlanta and Cincy are looking for deals to make. Make some deals looking to the future. Fill some holes.

Chavez likely ... Could also mean Hutch has to perform in Spring Training to earn a rotation spot. Dickey being traded is also a possibility - could be a reason why Thole was non-tendered and signed for so cheap, lower his salary to help a potential deal.

The Jays have good rotation depth right now but they still could use a higher end starter and I'm sure management realizes that. So it's good they're exploring ways to upgrade.
Hutch really needs to bring his A game. He needs to find what made him so successful and nearly lights out at home and be able to carry that over and spread it out. As for Chavez, didn't he leave Toronto so he could be a starter in the first place? I doubt he'd want to come back just to come out of the pen. You do bring up a good point about Thole, he's easier to trade if there ever comes a need to do so.

Nothing's really going to bump Happ from the rotation at this point. The fifth spot is currently one of Chavez or Hutch. If they acquire someone else, Chavez goes to the pen and Hutch either joins him or starts in Buffalo as depth.
Could very well be but nothing is certain at this point. Maybe they don't even get anyone

They filled the rotation holes, the lineup itself remains intact going into next season. Only thing they are likely looking to acquire is depth (bench, SP) and relief.

His salary, he makes way too much for what he brings to the table. We can replace him with Pompey a guy making league min, and not lose much in terms of production.

Wouldn't be against trading Dickey so one of Chavez or Hutchison is there instead and we have some extra money to use elsewhere (i.e. a good bullpen guy or two). I could live with that also though.

When Pompey starts hitting like Revere instead of Thole, this is a valid argument, however until then, Ben deserves the spot over him.

Is Maeda comparable to Estrada? Seems like a location pitcher but instead of the great changeup he has a slider.

I don't see the point if the team is on a budget. $20m just to be able to give him a contract. Plus these Japanese pitchers already have a ton of mileage by the time they get to NA.

Not sure if it has been said but Pentecost underwent another shoulder surgery (to repair rotator cuff interval) recently. He *should* be ready for spring training and there's an article up on SN that says how the org will be aggressive in giving him ABs, even if it's not at catcher (1B mentioned) so he can make up for lost time.

Atlanta and Cincy are retooling themselves. They'd be the last teams that would part with futures. They're likely attempting to strip down of all their veteran players.

nashville, tenn. – toronto blue jays catching prospect max pentecost may see some playing time at first base next year after recently undergoing another shoulder surgery.

The 11th overall pick in the 2014 draft missed all of last season with shoulder issues and when his problems throwing continued during fall instructional league, he had a rotator cuff interval repair.

Though he’s expected to be ready for spring training, the blue jays want to make sure pentecost starts catching up on lost at-bats, which is why he may see some action at other positions.

“we were assured he’d be good to go once spring training rolls around,†said doug davis, minor-league field co-ordinator for the blue jays. “we’re going to find a way to get him going, whether it’s catching or whether it’s at another position.â€

pentecost appeared in 25 games with the blue jays’ rookie-ball gulf coast league team in dunedin and short-season a vancouver in 2014 after he was signed, but was shut down to undergo a shoulder surgery. He had another operation in the spring, but neither did the trick.

“the biggest thing is we know the kid can hit, we want to find a way to get him in the lineup and get him at-bats,†said davis. “if that’s having him play a different position or dh, we have that available to us.â€

pentecost was seen as the catcher of the future when he was drafted. The blue jays don’t have much depth at the position behind russell martin and josh thole, who is currently slated to be the big-league backup.

I wonder if J.J. Hoover can be acquired.
