Criminy! It was 10 years as of about 2 weeks from now that @TD Charlie and I finally personally made our acquaintances. I remember going to Al's South Street Cafe for a sandwich a lot more than Lagrassa's, but I had a kid in college then and was on a tight budget. Sounds like I'd be still on a tight budget as far as Lagrassa's goes!
I was checking the Al’s menu last night and they’re up to $12.50 for a large. Ten years ago i think it was $6.50!

typically do 20 to 25% .
20 and round up to the next dollar. Another buck for a job well done

Have seen some articles and viral posts complaining about tipping.

How do all of you tip? I do $2 for every $10
I do 25% generally. People need to live. My haircutter gets a 20 spot, the haircut is 22 so I feel that's super cheap.

I also make sure the numbers are even. I will tip say $10.42 to bring me up to .00 in the cents column

You cannot find good sammiches anywhere in AZ.
I miss Harrison's RB and my med extra sauce and cheese and my pizza roll. and also my Supreme rb. mess of a sandwich (but delicious)

However, I do not miss it enough to move back to the land of the frozen snow. :D

We almost never tip less than 20%. During the height of the pandemic, we were often 30-40%, because things were tough and we could do more. Even now for food deliveries, I'll choose 20 or 25% included on the app, and another $5 in cash when they get her because gas is so expensive. We also tip in cash as much as we can, so the servers/delivery drivers can keep more of in their pockets.

I do that too, just because it's so much easier to remember when I'm balancing my checkbook. Yes, I still balance it, even though I write about 1 check a month, and most of it is me transcribing from my online account register to my checkbook register. It helps me reinforce how the cash flow is going throughout the month.

This is so true. Best we can do is Jersey Mike's, which is good, but not like a good local corner deli sandwich. So many chain restaurants out here. But also, no snow!

Though we might see some snow as we're headed north for the weekend, and taking the train to the Grand Canyon. Should be less crowded than the last time we went, which was Labor Day weekend. 🤮

Same here in Vegas. Haven't found a good real diner and only found 1 real good East Coast style sandwich shop.

The saving grace is there's a real deal local cheesesteak chain called Paulie's South Street Steaks that does them the real way (with or without cheese whiz) and loads the sandwiches up with meat. They also have other classic subs like Italian and French Dip. The part that sold me was they call them grinders

Standard 15% but rounded up to the nearest round number for convenience. If it was a particularly good service I may go over a little bit, but that depends on what it is and my budget at the time.

Oh, trust me I've gone all around town finding places. It's definitely a great food city. Have found awesome Greek places, obviously Mexican food, steak houses, etc.

But there is a definite lack of good Northeast style delis and pizza shops. The subs and pizza aren't that good, even places people rave about like Naked City Pizza

This is so sad

Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac Dies at 79

Christine McVie, the celebrated singer and keyboardist for Fleetwood Mac, has died at 79, the band said Wednesday.

"There are no words to express our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie," the band's statement said.

"She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed."

horrible few days, went to pay for flights for my son to visit us for Christmas, discovered my cards had been used/hacked or whatever you call it, had made $1700 of room on them to afford his flights as atrocious as those prices are. Had to notify Credit bureaus, banks, all cards now cancelled but I sure as hell don`t have my $1700 and the boy will remain in Halifax for the holidays

I try to do all the right things in my personal life, I believe most people are good, this simply sucks, we don`t make a massive amount of cash, been through enough personal struggles over the last 2 years and now this.

We`ll get over it but man has this been a kick in the nuts of 2 days

Hmmmmm tipping is one of those things I am all over the place.
If the service is good, good tip....if it sucks....so does your tip. I should not have to ask for water or flag you down for any reason....

Now there is the side of me that says I am self employed (radon mitigation) . I get about 1 tip a year. If I have a job that I know will be difficult, I charge more since I know that won't appreciate it (tip) and just expect it. People never complain when I tell them it's extra due to the difficulty encountered (or if I fit them in and do a Saturday)

What is frustrating is like yesterday, I drove 45 minutes for an estimate for a system they didn't need. I told them how to solve their problem....and no tip, no gas money, nothing. It sucks because if you tell people there is an estimate charge you won't get work. However if you are calling me to look a system that someone else screwed up, its $250 for me to show up.....and T&M to fix it.

I know some people don't make a lot, but things like tipping for take out or making a sandwich (known as doing your job) don't sit well with me. I know tipping is expected in certain businesses, but what about the rest of us in service positions? Why tip the deli person who gets your food, but not the person at a fast food place?

One thing I am real tired of is the "COVID take out charge" . Businesses are still charging 10-15 percent take out fee. I refuse to order from them.
