Jets have 23 million to spend towards the cap next season with the cap staying at the same level. To sign Laine/Connor/Trouba you could sign all 3 to an average deal of 7 aav each. That is without dumping Kuli or Perreault.

With the way Laine is playing he isn't worth anything more than that right now. I bet Connor gets the Ehlers deal. I still think Trouba will be moved though
The Ehlers deal equivalent for 2019-20 will be probably be pushing $7M AAV anyway...

That's giving those 3 guys 7 mil each and keeping Perreault and Kulikov. Myers is gone. That is also with a 4% increase in the cap.

The way Connor is going he gets more than Ehlers. The way Laine is going he probably refuses to sign long term and gets a 2 year deal for less. I expect him to turn it around though.

I agree Trouba is more likely gone. The only way I see him staying is Whileee's idea of a shorter term deal with an overpay, say 7.5-8 mil.

This is prospect thread. Why all the cap talk
The issue is the Jets prospect pipeline on D and how to replace Trouba if he leaves. That leads to questions about who might be able to replace him and then how soon the Jets will need to have a replacement. The tangent is inevitable, but can be curtailed.

We do, minus what we pay Connor, Laine, Trouba and if we retain Tanev. Laine at 8m, Connor and Trouba at 7m, and that cap space is eaten up instantly

There is more than that involved. CF just adds up the roster players under contract. Right now that is just 12. 11 of our current roster players are either pending RFAs or pending UFAs. That 23 mil has to cover 11 contracts, including several big ones. The players on smaller contracts may or may not be back but their replacements will cost about the same.

The only large contract not likely to be extended at that level is Myers. So we gain 5.5 mil, minus the ~1 mil for a replacement player. That gives 4.5 mil additional cap space available for raises. Add that to what we have now plus any increase in the cap and you have what we can give to those other 10 players needing raises, large and small.

Holm is starting his 4th straight game today. Up 2-0 on Tingsryds after the 1st. I've seen this script so many times this year, they go up early and the team disappears in the 3rd. Hopefully they can shut it down today.

He saved 28 of 29 for the win. I think his parents were in the crowd, they kept panning to a man and woman after big saves.

Chisholm with 3 assists. He now has 15 points in 17 games. Looking like a very astute pick in the 5th round at this point.

Not only that he is leading his team in points

Wouldn’t that be a pleasant surprise!

Thoughts on Chisholm and chances of making the World Junior team?

Thrilled with his production and some of the highlights I have seen but have to admit I haven’t seen him play much. Any feedback on his game passed his raw production?
