Winnipeg Jets Prospect Thread (Part X)

Murray is good... I still have him over Trouba. Although gap has been closed a lot since I first started watching the two (pre-draft).

Currently I go:
Murray
Trouba/Lindholm
Rielly

Imagine if you could pair Murray with Stuart, run the analytics, and then see how he stacks up to Trouba.

I think Murray is good, and will be very good. I think Trouba is going to be special.

@DubFromAbove: Great to see #NHLJets prospect Nelson Nogier back and healthy. Looks noticeably bigger and stronger when compared to pre-shoulder injury.

Well let's hope he can help Eakins out as I believe almost every player on the Oilers regressed in terms of possession under Eakins last year.

and regressed in pretty much every other way too. Well I guess they would without possession. Eakins has more to work with this year as well as a year under his belt. If there isn't a substantial improvement he won't be around next year.

Penticton Young Stars Tourney schedule. I'm assuming the times are PST, as this is from the Canucks site: http://canucks.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=63786

Edit: disregard the comment about PST - I converted the times to CST in this table.

Thanks! I may have to be sick from work on the 15th. ;)

So with Jokinen gone, I believe our oldest guys are Slater and Thorburn at 31. They're the only guys past 30. Last year we had one of the youngest teams in the league. I wonder if we'll be the youngest this year?

I'd be curious to see the youngest teams weighted by playing time in a season. That would be a good metric for evaluating just how much young talent comprises a team, moreso than average age.

Can't wait for this! We're going to need a dedicated thread for it at some point I'm thinking.

Yeah that would be a good metric.

Here is what I see happening in terms of icetime breakdown for the Jets young talent:

Near guaranteed big minutes:

Scheifele - top 6
Kane - top 6
Trouba - top 4
Bogo - top 4

Potential big impact:

Morrissey - top 4
Hutch - starting goalie

Potential depth pieces:

Postma/Ellerby - bottom pairing.
O'Dell - third line winger.

It looks like we could have some good young players spread out over some key positions.

Thanks for the link. He sure sounds like he has some hopes to make the Jets this year.

I actually intended to add this link from the Raiders website last night as well:

What are you looking forward to about this year?
I’m really looking forward to Winnipeg Jets camp. I’m going to try my best to make the team but I also want to focus on having a good camp in P.A and prepare myself for the upcoming season, wherever that may be.

Thanks Gump good stuff.

One of the many things I love about Josh is he is driven to make the NHL but no matter what he is going to make the best out of any situation. I remember Halifax fans commenting on how Drouin was pretty bummed about not making the Lightning and copped a bit of an attitude upon return.

I think Morrissey has a 75 percent chance of making the team

Agreed: he appears to have resolved the one thing he was looking to resolve this summer - his weight. His skating and vision was probably 'ready' by the end of the AHL playoffs, based on his play, and he improved his shot during the year in the W as well.

I definitely think there's a good chance he makes it out of TC this year, and sticks beyond 9 games.

If Morrissey stays they probably send Postma and Ellerby down. Postma may clear waivers but I don't think they will concern themselves if he gets picked up.

Pardy is the number 7 press box guy to start the year
