They absolutely do not, Americans live in Lala land largely.

Same job/company, it's a 5X better living in the USA for the same money, Housing, food, booze, gas is dirt cheap in the USA.

Depends where in the US I would think. When I was in LA groceries and restaurants were much cheaper. But when I was in NYC, it was pretty much the same (not counting exchange rate).

What a ridiculous thread. The Jets are down a bit in attendance. So frigging what ? Did the Panthers move when they had crap attendance? When has Arizona last drawn any kind of a crowd ? Did the California teams move ? Otttawa ? I could go on. It's as if no other team has ever had a slump in attendance. It happens to lots of teams. Like I said, so frigging what ? Gotta love the internet, so many people with so many opinions with so little knowledge .

Fans just put them on a short leash because of the citys population, arena size, it's in Canada, and Bettmans notorious "This isn't going to work very well unless the arena is sold out every night....blah, blah, blah" speech.

Well, that...and the fact that southern market teams have heard that's it's a joke to have low attendance from fans of northern market teams for most of the last 15 years...

Exactly, this is the main reason for people roasting and getting back at Canadian markets. When you constantly shit on the Southern US teams, expect the same in return.

That's literally what I meant by saying that it's in Canada. I should have specified.

Comparisons of attendance between various teams are pointless. The real number that matters is ticket revenue. Does anyone know where the Jets rank for that?

Even with the completely insane immigration we've had in the last 3 years, South Florida isn't even close to 10 million people. Dade and Broward combined will get you a little over 4m. Palm Beach and all the rest of the outlying areas that can draw fans combined might bring in like maybe another 2m tops.

Still a lot more than Manitoba, but let's stay grounded in reality here.

BTW, I think talk of relocating Winnipeg is ridiculous. Attendance league-wide is going to suffer badly under, uh, current economic conditions at some point.
I was using Wikipedia, it has 9.5 mil in south Florida so I rounded to 10.

Only 2 pts out of first and pricing of tickets aside, that's a bad look for attendance to be so low.

Their fans may irritate me when they are winning but they are as passionate as any I have seen. There is a fan base there willing and able to support the team. I don't buy the "too expensive" thing. I think it is more the team is really in the business of selling hope.

Hope either to win the cup this year or hope for a better future and a glimpse of it for yourself. No coincidence when fan morale was lowest, attendance was lowest. Now it is recovering as they are winning.

Stop this floating around the ice business they were doing and compete hard every night like they have recently and surprise the fans are there to support you.

^This. I feel like Jets STHs are getting a pretty raw deal, looking at their pricing chart right now it's $80/game on average for nosebleeds and $150/game for lower bowls. I can often get into Canucks games for 50-60 bucks, sometimes straight from the box office.

I could be wrong but I doubt that ever came from Winnipeg fans.
It was winnipeg fans. Most of the western canadian fans were in on it. Only Leaf and Canucks fans could care less, and that's because those are world class cities with things to do besides hockey.

Please. These cities have struggled in other sports too. Not too long ago the Braves fanbase was being roasted.

Canadian fans are wrong for elitism., but acting like Atlanta isn't seen as a weak sports town by the national media isn't the move. It may not be right, but that's the perception.

Sure...tons of cities have attendance struggles at different times in different sports. In hockey, even Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and NYI, and currently San Jose have had times where it was tough to get butts in the seats. And you're correct about the Braves. There have definitely been many years where Braves only hovered around 25K-ish.

But, you've been here long enough to know that, in the past, any NHL southern market has been perceived as a non-hockey market that doesn't "deserve" a team based on a period of low attendance and ticket prices by many posters here. And it's not just Atlanta. It has been Carolina, Florida, and Nashville, all of which currently have strong attendance. These same posters generally wanted these markets moved to markets all over Canada as that was perceived as guaranteed sellouts at insane ticket prices, forever.

It's just now, it's proven that no market will never be prone to periods of low attendance.
