$$$, and some people perhaps like a challenge? there's what 10ish NHL headcoach jobs per year that open up, so it's a career-advancement opportunity. it might look grim from the Jets POV, but like i mentioned some folks might like the challenge & the nice pay bump.why would you WANT that position, especially as your first big shot?
if you can turn around the Jets supposed toxic locker-room, while dealing with Chipman and Chevy, and actually put up a respectable PO performance off-the-bat, as a first-timer that improves your prospects or market value going forward.
i don't think this is the route the Jets will chose to go, but just a couple reasons why a first-time HC prospect (i am talking coming from Jrs or overseas. not a current NHL Assistant HC) might want the job.
