Great talk on wheeler.

I think we can tell from stats comments sitting right beside wheeler is this

The problem is not wheelers leadership skills, it’s that he never enforced them on sheif.

If he had sheif wouldn’t be playing like this.

I think saying Wheeler being up in everyone’s faces is over exaggerating his intensity and making it to sound like he’s an army drill Sargent.

By all accounts the fact that Laine allegedly (from Friedman) thought the Jets leadership group (wheeler, Scheifele, Byfuglien) expected too much from him and that they wanted more dedication from him doesn’t mean Wheeler is getting up in everyone’s face, if a player is complaining people want him to try too hard that player can suck it up.

I can see why players don’t/can’t think of hockey 24/7 like some tho.

Then you have players like Kyle Connor who said when he turned pro he thought with his skills set he shouldn’t really have to earn anything and it should be given too him, he didn’t realize that wasn’t the case until he saw how Wheeler and Scheifele were already established stars and he was surprised how much effort and dedication to the game they out I’m to continuously get better and that’s when he really turned it around and became a consistent 30+ goal scorer in the NHL and hasn’t looked back.

I am going by Wheeler's own admission that he was far too tense in the room in 2019 and that he was having a harder time letting things go.

There is nothing wrong with what he did with Conner. That was a an example of good leadership.

Just because people have some shortcomings as a leader doesn't mean they don't also have positive aspects as well.

There’s also the simple fact that people have different personalities and some styles of leadership will be really great for some and not work for others.

Yea Wheeler said he was too intense but I haven’t heard anything of Wheeler “getting up in peoples faces” like I said, seems like that an exaggeration of his intensity.

Didn't he fight Chiarot in practise or something?
yes.
wish wheeler would show some physical intensity on the ice. picks on teammates to torment or fight, how about do it to some opponents?
look at landeskog for instance.... b.schenn knee on knee on rantanen, landeskog steps in and tunes him up. trouba nails mackinnon in the shoulder/head, landeskog steps in. wheres wheeler when ehlers gets targeted, or connor? but let it be a teammate he's in their grill.

when did ehlers and connor get targeted? and the wheeler and chiarot fight started after chiarot was cross checking schiefele, my guess is people were singing a far different tune about it back then and now that they don't think these players they are using it against them...

ehlers ive seen get his slew of bad hits over the years. orlov did a knee on knee on him this year for example. was a bit anecdotal on connor, but wouldn't doubt there's some instances opponents have targeted him. he's a prolific goal scorer in the league.

so you expected an injured wheeler to jump out of the press box and on the ice to fight orlov or something? so basically you got nothing but "trust me, he's been targeted, he scores goals and wheeler should fight people because of it"

wheeler did fight tkachuk after scheifele got hurt in the play in round, and using gdt complaints as your defense instead of just listing examples when the 1 example you used was proven wrong... also people in the gdt were crying about how nobody went after kelly after he had a clean his vs scheifele so I would hardly use gdt's as any sort of evidence

Anyone find it funny that a player from within the Jets dressing room comes out and says nothing but good thing about the room and the players and not a single media person is talking about it because it isn’t the headline they want to use for clicks.

It's the weekend, we'll see starting tomorrow. The people talking about it the most have been Hustler, Murat, Hamilton etc so I wouldn't read a ton into nothing being discussed on a Sunday.

Yup, never even saw him speak on the ice once this entire year.
