Dolegala the jolly green giant is picking apart BC's defense so far. Saskatchewan came to play so far. Don't want to cheer for them, but I'll make an exception for this game since "BC sucks!"

And Adams injures his other leg. Interesting drama in BC. (edit: must have just been a cramp or something, back in the game later)

Give the fans credit, BC just took 2 procedures (and a holding call) on the same 2nd down near the end of the half. It's so loud the officials are having issues... Followed by a pick. Wow.

Riders came to play. Nice to see BC taken down a notch, but we'll see how Dalegala does the rest of the season once D's can watch tape and plan vs his strengths. BC's O-line really let them down, too - they could have won without all the procedures and holds (and 5 sacks against).

Should be an exciting Labour Day Classic/Banjo Bowl...

VAJ sucks.

Also, nice to see the Bombers win — was out of town without wifi and just got around to watching the game last night.

Bombers are in first all by themselves and need to stay there for the playoffs, they are pretty well unbeatable at home. ZC gives them the best chance to do this so if he is good to good them start him.
I would have him start, maybe play one or two quarters to test his progress and conditioning, then put in Brown to erase the stain of last week's game. If Brown falters, we put ZC back in.

And when are we going to try another kick returner? McCrae is a disaster just waiting to happen back there.

I honestly wouldn't have minded Brown getting one more start to see what kind of adjustments he could make, but inarguably this is a positive to the team trying to win the next game.

Brown will not be playing for the bombers next season, unless they trade collaros.

This isn't about developing a player anymore, lol.

For the health of the league, I'd love to see Brown get another Crack at a start, but the bombers aren't interested in upping his free agent value.

Here's a question which I already have an answer for - what is Brown's trade value today?

Now, The bombers shouldn't trade him, given Collaros' history, but something to have a meeting about I think.

Most importantly is that this is still a long season. I want Brown as ready and experienced as he can be if we need him down the stretch/in playoffs. If there's any question about Collaros' health Brown should in there. Better than have Collaros missing in August against an east team than missing later.

After last game, I'd say there's a non-zero chance now that if Brown doesn't get another start he's back as the backup here. It'd be one thing if Brown had shown amazing last game, he'd be a guy looking for a starting place. If that's all the tape he has, I'm not sure he gets that chance.

Next year you have...
BC - Vernon Adams
CGY - Jake Maier
EDM - Tre Ford/Taylor Cornelius(Corns got a 50% guaranteed deal, he'll be back as short yardage guy at least)
SSK - Trevor Harris
WPG - Zach Collaros
HAM - Bo Levi Mitchell (contractually likely tied up here)
TOR - Chad Kelly
OTT - Dustin Crum?
MTL - Cody Fajardo

Then you have Dane Evans and Chris Streveler out there as potential options. I'd bet Ottawa takes a run at Streveler to go Streveler-Crum-Tyrie Adams. Calgary and Dane Evans seems like a natural fit. I was thinking both those teams as well as potentially Sask, Montreal, Hamilton, Edmonton would be making a run at him as a true starter, not sure anymore.

So Brown's option would be likely sign cheap in Hamilton and he will get chances behind the washed up BLM, sign cheap in Edmonton and hope that Tre Ford struggles/injury which is more likely than most with his style, or sign back in Winnipeg and continue to wait for his chance.

He's 26 this year. Most CFL QB's get their first starting chance at 27 or 28. The clock will start ticking on him next year, but he's still young for a CFL QB.

The Bombers are playing to win, not coddle their back up QB and worry about his feelings. If Brown needs redemption he should start taking advantage of his opportunities.

He has no value. Everyone has a Brown level backup. I’d bet he’s back in Winnipeg next year.

I never said anything about Brown's feelings. Strange that you would go there.

Given ZC's medical history, we need a backup QB who is ready, confident, and rehearsed. I suggest we give Brown more reps under fire to develop his skills and repair his confidence so that he can rescue the team again when ZC goes down. And the odds are that he will.

“The stain of last week’s game” sounds like a mental issue you were Looking to correct. I guess not.

Another game to add to however many years he’s been here seems like a drop in the bucket to me. To me there’s no need to donate a game to Brown. You play football to win. Collaros is the starter he plays. All decisions should be made in that vein. If Collaros NEEDS a break then he should get it. But all thoughts start with Collaros and wining games. Brown is there to support Collaros not the other way around.

what odds are you talking about when it comes to Collaros going down? What are those odds?

"Donate" a game? I thought we paid him a salary to get on the field whenever the coach tells him.

I have no idea what the odds are. I merely note ZC's injury history and how many starting QB's have been missing games this year due to injury. I'll leave it up to the gamblers in the crowd to conjure up some odds.

You’re just picking words to argue about now? I’m not even sure what you are trying to have a conversation about at this point. Of course he plays when the coach tells him to. What are you even doing?

We are talking about the reasoning behind when he plays. Or at least I was.

I think I'd take Brown over Maier, whatever is in Edmonton, Fajardo and current Bo Levi.

That's 4/9 qb situations in the league.

And Harris is on thin ice too when it comes to this. I agree that Strev makes a lot of sense in Ottawa.

I guess it depends on what he's looking for - I just assume as a qb, he's looking for a chance to prove himself asap, as opposed to another year behind Collaros.

Personally, I'd stick in Winnipeg, because they know how to build a CFL roster, which actually should be pretty easy, but apparently isnt these days - coughJONEScough - but I'm not an elite athlete, nor do I have the mentality of one.

Sorry.

I didn't realize that "what odds are you talking about when it comes to Collaros going down? What are those odds?" was your version of reasoning.

My apologies.

Good talk. You were talking about a player who played 18 games last year. I’ll avoid trying to make your words make sense in the future.

Only change I see if FB Burtenshaw off the roster with LB Gauthier back on.

Other than the obvious move of Collaros back to #1 spot.

Sure hope McCrae doesn't cost us in the return game, he's a disaster waiting to happen back there. One FG return does little to smooth my nerves on him considering how much trouble he has catching the ball.

Gauthier back in, McCrae still fielding punts
IMO, McCrae + Eli/Dobson should be scratched for Jamal Parker + Jeremy Murphy. Bombers already have Demski to play the hybrid SB/RB role and Murphy can serve as another backup WR. Most times over past few years Bombers have carried just 6 OL on gameday roster so I don't see an issue with that. Parker would give us someone who can not only rotate in on the secondary (maybe play SLB on passing downs as they are refusing to Darby and Kramdhi gets eaten alive in coverage) but also a much surer handed returner, even if he doesn't have the break away potential that McCrae has.

But it's very hard to question O'Shea and Walters around the edges of the roster considering their track records.

One player to watch out for is Alexander, while his is listed on the roster he has not practiced all week and it's not injury related. As for roster management Oshea is stubborn to a fault but he has won Cups and I'm banging on this keyboard.
