Literally every other team has yet to turn in even a decent performance. It’s clear there isn’t a QB in the league in the same stratosphere as Collaros. Please football gods, keep him healthy. Also, TSN was doing everything possible to hype up Chad Kelly, but, man, he looked awful. Terrible reads for most of the game — Hamilton is just worse.

Tim White should be getting cut tomorrow. His display after that hit in the 3rd quarter was embarrassing and that would never fly in Winnipeg.

White also should have walked into the huddle and punched Bo. No chance for a wideout to pick up a corner blitz when the corner reads the play before the snap. Bo needs to pull that ball down and not put White in that spot to get leveled.

Yup, absolutely. That was a suicide pass, not sure why he thought it was the wideout’s fault. Bo needs to read the blitz there

My personal theory is that he was mad at Ternowski cause Ternowski should have yelled at him to get down. Ternowski could see that he was miss the DB, he should have been yelling to White to get down and if White heard that he could have protected himself. He was taking the yardage loss either way.

We watched the game at the Lake. I bought a new projector, a BenQTH685 its awesome btw, and we have it on a wall with screen outside. That Grant runback was truly awesome and my father in law was losing it on the reffing and the TSN crew who were so hopefull Saskabush was going to win

Winnipeg Blue Bombers' RB Brady Oliveira doubtful vs. B.C. Lions - 3DownNation

Rarely do players play through a doubtful tag until late in the year (if the game matters) or playoffs. Likely to see an Augustine start on Thursday. Wonder if we might see some Designated American, Designated Canadian shenanigans on the depth chart which should allow Greg McCrae to be basically interchangeable with Augustine despite the ratio issue.

Recently signed DT Fox back off the roster with OL Jakub Szott on the roster as OL depth. Of note this gives the Bombers an extra American spot should they choose. With Oliveira a GTD, my guess is that was done to keep options open in case Oliveira can't go and McCrae is needed to be recalled off PR tmw.

Other change is Demerio Houston is scratched this week (I heard his wife had a baby yesterday, probably can't make it back to Canada in time). Rookie Abu Daramy-Swaray is going to start at corner in his first CFL game. I'm guessing that's a spot to watch BC will test him early.

The bombers were in the exact same situation last year.

Couldn't they just always have had that extra spot by starting WJ as backup to Bennett?
 
Sure seems like the bombers are not using a Nationalized American at all... we're probably the team with the most options to capitalize on that rule in the league - seems a bit bizarre

Wrong side of the ball. These things are dependent on side of the ball.

And I was talking about roster room, not starters v non-starters. If Oliveira gets scratched last minute now, they can just dress McCrae immediately since they have less than the maximum number of Americans on the current roster. If Fox had stayed on the gameday roster, scratching Oliveira for McCrae would have resulted in a 2nd move with an American off for a Canadian elsewhere.

O'Shea doesn't believe in it. Hard to blame him, IMO, it's a joke to see elite players listed as backups to play ratio games. CFL needs to fix their rules ASAP.

Wrong side of the ball? I thought you could have a nationalized American on D and another on O...? Just start Bennett and run WJ the rest of the game.

I don't care if Osh believes in it or not - these are the rules now. DL depth looks razor thin in this game - our whole D relies on rotating DL and keeping them fresh...

Ah thought we talking still on the Oliveira/McCrae thing.

But yeah they could be doing things like that on D.

It's really not a big a deal, just gives you more flexibility with your backup Americans.

I agree running this few DL is odd. My thinking is that WPG saw how effective EDM was against VA with just 3 man pressure and they are planning to bring alot of that this game. EDM defensively played really well considering they were on the field for roughly 45mins against BC.

The Bomber forum seems to go down a couple times a year. I’m sure it’ll be back up soon.

And you’re right about that. I haven’t seen a team with even a decent showing yet. Everyone was gargling BC’s nuts after their game against Calgary but that was more a function of how awful Maier is.

TSN has dug deep into the same propaganda machine that they used on Matthews to make Kelly seem like a world beater for the Argos when really, he looked awful against Hamilton.

Oliveira looking great so far - let's keep running until they stop us... I was at a game vs BC way back in the Thunder & Lightning days where both Sellers & Roberts rushed for over 100 yards (I think we had 300 total yards?? One drive was entirely rushing...)
