Marc Denis said something worrying about Dach during last night broadcast. Something along the line that Dach was almost cheating, showing lazy habits especially when far away from the puck and off camera (line changes, backchecks, etc.). Denis and Houde agreed that something was off with him and his level of interest in the game. I would have kept Monahan just to groom him, as Money was a hero to Dach and a very positive influence.

The Hawks didnt quit on a guy that young for nothing
How many 20-21 years old 2C got traded in the past 10 years

Pretty frustrating guys...............I did not have them in the playoffs this year, but had them much better than they currently are.
Recently we have been playing better, but this is a serious hole to claim being in the mix.
So many issues, starting with coaching and moving into most of the lineup.

3 more games to the quarter pole.............a very good time to evaluate, and for some reason I have been thinking the quarter pole is when a deal goes down from Hughes to salvage some kind of season. Hiring a guy to help MSL would also be a good move.
MSL clearly doesn't want any "helper". Not sure if Hughes has a deadlin, but him saying that MSL should learn to delegate a few weeks ago points to management not being super happy with how he's doing things...so there is that.

But they seems quite content with watching a shitshow right now, even if the team played a bit better last game.

Any chances at a playoff birth died with Laine’s injury so who cares. It would be fun to watch better hockey though and the vets are the worst offenders on the team.

Dvorak, Armia, Matheson, Savard are playing putrid hockey.

The Hawks were burning it all down for Bedard. They had a price they wanted for Dach and we met it.
Stilll, you would think they would keep a 21 years old #3OV big C if they saw at least something in him. To quit on the guy that early showed they had no more hope he would be a part of their rebuild long-term.

You'd think the Ottawa Senators would have kept Zibanejad, too. Sometimes teams are valuing something different at the time of a trade. Kirby was also looking to go out of that environment as they were trying to develop him into a shutdown center and he felt he still had more to give offensively.

Debrincat was still young and they traded him away, too. They weren't keeping a soul on that roster.

He can't handle the defensive part of being a center in the NHL and if he could they might be willing to give him the opportunity you are suggesting. Hughes is fine with us finishing at the bottom of the league because if he wasn't, he would make a trade for a center. After all, we are really bad at the position.
I don't agree. He's solid and can be a good 2nd liner. He's just having a tough time recovering from a lot of time off.

What I'd like to see is him to get a chance to prove it. If we put him there for a good 20 games with our best wingers and he does nothing? Then sure, I'll concede. But right now, I think he's a solid player who's playing a little scared. Partially because of a bad system and paritally because he doesn't want to get hurt again.

We played much better defensively, it was probably one of our best efforts of the season. The real issue is the drop-off at center after Suzuki, Evans is a 4th line center and Dvorak is awful. That guy would struggle to put up 30 points in the AHL, he makes so many bad mistakes at both ends of the ice. We would be much more competitive with a 50 point NHL center behind Suzuki.
Habs clearly not done re shoring up at center. Over 30 years of weakness at the position and it still all hinges on hope.
