Very disappointed in Savage and Dylan James. I have not watched them, but I am hoping their offensive numbers improve. I know that's not the end all be all, but I would like to see improvement.

Savage was always projected #4 center. Don't need to score a lot , just look at our #4 line

Rules changed last week.
OHL/WHL/QMJHL players will be allowed to play NCAA now.
So Guimond could still play in college down the road.
Don’t think anyone currently holds his Q draft rights. So interesting to see where he ends up .

I wonder what happens to Guimond’s draft rights now that he is playing in the CHL.
Would he re-enter the 2025 NHL draft if he is not signed by Detroit this season?
This change is new, but there are already a couple college bound NHL prospects who have jumped ship to CHL this week (but still plan on playing NCAA eventually).

I assume because Guimond is still committed to play at Yale that we will still hold his right.

I doubt that happens but if it does Wings should get some kind of compensation. Since he's still going to college, he can't sign a pro contract. Interesting change of rules though.
The more freedom the better for teenage players, but without having looked at details of new rules it could lead to significant decline in quality of Canadian Junior A leagues, particularly in western Canada. There has always been pressure on kids, starting as young as 14yo when they play their Bantam Draft year, to decide whether to go CHL or NCAA route. If NCAA, they'll sign with BCHL or other leagues, like Cholo did. It's also been common for those who get scholarships to play an extra year in the BCHL, putting off going to college until they're 19 or even 20, which raises the quality of the league but doesn't do much for the player's development. The quality of the BCHL has also attracted a lot of U.S. HS grads to play a year there before going to college: DDK, Draper, Moore, Keenan. Given a choice, many of those guys might have opted for CHL teams instead. Hard to say what the impact will be long-term, but we probably won't have to worry about how the next Makar's Junior A performance compares to CHL or USHL prospects.
This is tough to read even though we all knew most of these guys didn't have brilliant offensive profiles. The only guy outside of GR I have gone out of my way to watch is James this year. While he has good size and can skate like the wind, the puck just doesn't follow him around (which is usually a hockey IQ issue).
Anyways, it is early but feels like a dud of a season even outside of the big club.

My guy, Emmit Finnie, Kiskanen, Buchelnikov and Trey Augustine are not B prospects. Those kids all look to have real potential.

21 year old Panarin had 40 points in 51 KHL games . Buchelnikov has 21 points in 24 games so far in KHL. Augustine .941 this season so far.

My worry with Buch is his size. 170 pounds (EP) is so light at 21 years old, you would think he would have bulked up some. Great to see the scoring, but if he is only 170 that doesn't bode well for success in the NHL.
Edit - I see Panarin is only listed at 173, but still he would be one of the few exceptions that can survive the NHL at 170ish pounds. Caufield is also small, but just watching him play he is always seems like a hit away from career over.
There's actually quite a few players the NHL has listed at pretty low weights. I think some are wrong, they have Albert listed in the 160s but I've seen him listed at 185 elsewhere, but then Marcus Pettersson checks out in the 170s at multiple sites.
I always liked it if players could play a little heavier, I think they take the wear and tear better, but it's clearly not abnormal for guys to come in at 170 to 180.
