I’m not sure what everyone expected this game when the best center was Jesper Boquist.
I agree . Not upset or bothered at all by the loss . Last game of the year with a lot of regulars out . Players just playing and trying not to get hurt . I don’t know why people are upset they lost . Should be used to it by now

I agree that it was unacceptable to get outplayed like this by Detroit of all teams.

I think the Ruff times are over. I'd be shocked if he is here next year.

I think the whole staff is elsewhere, other than maybe the goalie coach who I'm afraid might be as bad as any of them.
No matter how you slice it there can be no excuses, I mean none for the way they played tonight especially against the team we played.

I’m all for cleaning house, it has to be done, I mean complete scorched earth burnt down to the studs and that includes every single Pens/Fitz related cronies on down to the goalie coach, f*** that guy too lol.

This game was just a cherry on top of the shit sundae that was this season. I stopped getting upset at losses a long time ago and am glad it's over. Although there is that deranged part of my mind that apparently enjoys punishing myself that will also miss it.

We need scorched earth with our goalies. I give Blackwood like a 20% chance of being decent with us, but he can't be 1A next year.
Once the season was completely lost I was fine losing 5-6 as long as our young kids played well, and it was so blatantly obvious the goalies we're the cause of most of our problems. Like yes, we we're super strong defensively, but half of that is probably the system.

ALso no way I want Ruff back, but if his HC career is over. I wouldn't mind bringing him back as an assistant of some sorts. Not even on the bench, but just be around our young players who like him. Between his old age, and coaching for us and the Rangers maybe he doesn't want to move.
You and @Zachas Final Third have the same exact avatar of Elias riding the scooter and there's been so many times I'm confused and think he's in here. I actually thought you were him with a name change for the longest time lol.

I think Blackwood CAN bounce back, but I don't think he really will. He probably won't go on to be better than an average NHL goalie.

I give him a better chance than I ever gave of Cory bouncing back because he's 25 and not 32 or 33, but I think he might have blown his load and peaked in 2020.

I often times wonder if this goalie coach is any good, I don't understand why we fired Melanson, but Blackwood hasn't been the same since.

I'm sure the injuries are crushing his play, but I often times wonder if his injuries are the difference in him being as bad as he's been and being solid like 18-19 and 19-20 or if they're the difference in him being as bad as he's been and just mediocre.

Whole staff needs to be torched. You can't bring them back after a 66 point pace season (last year) and then a 63 point season, unless it's years one and two (or maybe even three) of the rebuild.

And just because Steve Yzerman does it with the Red Wings, doesn't make it alright. In case you ain't noticed, Yzerman has yet to prove he's doing a great job in Detroit. It's what he did in Tampa that gives him his reputation as the GM.

Wonder how much the covid season counts... Ruff only having 1 real season worries me that this ain't over, I hope I'm just paranoid
I have a little bit of doubt that they are not all fired. If I didn't, I wouldn't be going crazy with the what ifs, but I think Fitz knows this staffs needs to be shanked.

And I also often times still think there's a chance Fitz might not be the guy here (in ownerships eyes, not that it's my personal belief) and that he's also shanked this offseason.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I often times wonder if Shero got watergated (not that he actually did anything controversial like watergate, but stay with me here) and if Fitz is just Gerry Fording the restof Nixon's (Shero) second term.

I'm not saying I hope that's the case, but between the odd one year extension as only GM, but multiple years just in other roles, to the abrupt Shero firing, only to turn around and promote his right hand man/vice president to take over, to the Chayka stuff (I HOPE he isn't a GM here or anything CLOSE to being the GM here), I wonder if they have it in their mind to clean house of the entire post-Lou guys. Like all the Pens/Shero guys that were brought in back in 2015.

I’m at the point where I don’t really care anymore . Just stop sucking . Don’t care who is running things . This roster is very very poorly constructed as it is

I noticed his avatar the other week, and should change mine. Elias has always been my favorite player, so I just picked the first picture that came to mind. It was this or him with his green hat. I actually got to skate with him and our Stanley cup team in 95 as a kid, and his jersey is the only one I owned (in any sport) where the player was still on the team 2 years later haha. I finally got my second Devils jersey 2 years ago (Nico) so hopefully he's here for the next 20.

I’d shank Fitz if his plans are to keep Recchi . You can’t keep people that are consistently shitty at their job around for years . He has failed at his job for almost three seasons now . One of the very worst in his field and still has a job ? How ? He has to go …
If we had finished around NHL .500 or even 80 points, I think Ruff gets to come back next year, with next year being playoffs or bust or he's done.

I don't think it was playoffs or bust for this year, but I think with how we did not improve in points percentage and have just now had our two worst points percentage seasons 1986, I don't think they're coming back.

Give it a few days and lets see what we find out.

If Ruff hasn't been fired by Monday, I'm still gonna believe that he WILL be before the end of May, UNLESS Fitz comes out and says he's staying.

Was it the 2000 Stanley Cup team? Or was Elias just involved cause he was called up that season?

That's pretty sweet regardless!

I hope that we don’t do what some posters on here want to do . Have Foote amd all these kids in the lineup. Yes they looked “ ok” in two games but pump the brakes here . They will get caved in over a full regular season . Maybe Bahl and or Okhotiuk can win a spot but we can’t just hand out roster spots to the kids just because . We can’t have a full roster of kids learning the NHL game or we will be out of the playoffs again before Christmas .

This is why I wonder if we may not have seen the last of Subban or if we'll be maybe looking for this coming offseason's version of Kulikov or something.

I can't see all those kids making the roster because they aren't proven enough. I think some will be in, but some won't be in. At least not to start the year.

I'm expecting 1 or 2 spots open in the top 9. One of those very likely gets filled by Boqvist who has put together 40+ strong games at this point dating back to Christmas. The other idk maybe Holtz takes a leap, maybe Zetterlund keeps up his strong play and proves he's a regular, maybe Foote has a great camp, maybe Kuokkanen works his way back in.
