Ruff doesn’t give me the impression of someone looking to retire. Lately he’s seemed really frustrated too like he knows this could be the end of his job with the devils and he’s lost hope. But I don’t think he’ll retire after this season unless he isn’t getting many attractive job looks.
I think there will be teams interested in bringing him on as an assistant, but I just can't see him getting a head coaching job, not this summer. If Buffalo were looking to make a coaching change, I really think I could see them bringing him back, but it doesn't appear they will be making a head coaching change this offseason.
He went several years between getting a job between Dallas and with us a head coach.
I'm not sure he wants to retire either though.
And I been pointing out the same thing about him being frustrated. Last night it was 2 minutes into the game and the score was 0-0. They didn't even call a penalty against us or miss one against them and they cut to him on the bench and he was already shaking his head and saying something to Recchi and just looked disgusted.
They've cut to him on the bench a lot lately and it's the same thing almost every game since probably the last time we played the Rangers, only it's usually after a goal is scored or we get a penalty, which is to be expected with a lot of coaches. Last night he just looked ready to give up and it was at a very random time and point in the game.
