Windsor Spitfires 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part V

The only player who has a chance to play tonight is Greentree. Hope I am wrong. Spellacy would be back before Davis.

Kitchener is catching a historic break here. I've never seen a team more decimated with injuries in a playoff series than in this one. Having 2-4 players out is one thing, but 8 players is insane.

Look man, I don't know how much you know, or played hockey in your lifetime, or if you have any medical training. If you love and truly care for your favorite team players, you don't want them on the ice sick or injured playing. Their wellbeing is much more important than a fan's desired wish or a silver tin cup.
Attention Ballerinas , it`s time to suit up.

That’s what I thought of as well. Like no disrespect, but is a 50% Greentree going to produce better than an Alec Stewart for example? Sure. But, if Greentree plays game 5, does that set him back for 6/7?

I wondered with the reports of him being “ill” during game 4 were just that.

The mentality of, let’s Win this one, then there’s a week off to recover. You don’t get the result you want, then things get a bit iffy.. now you have to rest and need close to a full recovery to go again.

I wonder that about tonight too. Spellacy and Davis are close. Greentrees a maybe. Do you push them back tonight to try and finish the series on the road? Or, give em an extra 48 hours and try and dress them all on home ice?

I don’t like putting all the eggs in the Game 7 basket.

I have no idea who’s pulling the strings. And maybe it’s different for each player. NHL Team, Agents, Coaches, Parents, … Ownership?

If we win game 4, we’re only guaranteed 2 more home games as we’re losing home ice for the conference finals. If we take this one to Game 7, we still get those two home games.
If we win, it guarantees us 4. I’m not saying that ownership would rather see a Rd 2, Game 7 loss, vs a 4/5 Game loss in the Conference finals…
But there’s no new banner, and almost any Game 7 will sell more tickets than a Game 3 or 4, especially if down in the series.
From a business perspective, Extra Home Games = Extra Money. If a Game 7 is forced and I’m ownership, I’m calling every agent, and NHL club personally. Win a Game 7, that leads into a Conference Final with London…? We’re looking at 2-3 Sell Outs. Ideal scenario.

Casual fans are showing up to watch a Game 7, likely without the backstory of “Half of our Starters are out”.

I heard spits haven’t lost more than 2 in a row this season… I haven’t checked it, but provides an interesting dynamic tonight.

I’m not hopeful, but optimistic. We need a young 2nd/3rd line Guy to have a career night. Nesbitt. Garden. In addition to some support from Morneau/Abraham and the back end.

Protas is a monster, but can only do so much.

What’s crazy, is with a much more depleted roster, Greentree/Protas/Morneau have already exploded beyond what Wright/Harrison/Maggio were able to do, in a much more “expected” season.

Proud of what this team has done, but I want
More hockey. Go Spits Go.
I would suggest resting your players, and play with what you have now that are healthy, you never know what would happen with a team that are no suppose to win. Design a game plan, Greg Walter is a good coach, no one knows his players best, he can design the right game plan for his players to follow and come out on top. Kitchener is a formidable team with one of, if not the best goalie in this league, but they are at home, the pressure is all on them, and not on Windsor. Rangers have to win and perform for their fans, there is no tomorrow for them, Windsor have nothing to lose but to play and follow a game plan, if not, they still have a tomorrow with a healthier team to play game 7

Either you pull up your socks, and play the gave with what you have, or give them game and while at it the series too and go home without even given it a try.

Going to be in tough at the Aud tonight. The Rangers have all the momentum and confidence right now and I'm sure their fans will be loud tonight. Pretty shitty last month or so with all these injuries mounting up. Just seems like alot of bad luck at the wrong time, would be nice to see our captain and atleast one other player return tonight.

Either way in the grand scheme of things this season I think we overachieved expectations and have had a hell of a run but with all these continued injuries it has just been too much for these older guys to carry the load and these younger guys have been doing there best with the lack of experience and strength.

Anything can happen tonight. Could be a hot start offensively or just Joey standing on his head, honestly not sure what to expect tonight all things considered but just want to see an honest hard effort from anyone the puts on the spitfires jersey tonight. Play with pride and composure.

Whatever it takes boys!!
Go Spitfires!!

He came back and won MVP of the tournament. Players like that is why we won back to back championships. Lots of bruises in that locker room , lots of ice packs but the team pressed on.

I'm sure some of these guys out could play thru it but it's not like before playing thru everything and not fearing the consequences or future issues and let's face it the medics/Staff might not allow it and why would they jeopardize there future on and off the ice.

Hope this team came to play tonight, regardless of the line up let's give it everything we got to close out this series!

All I can say to that is if you look at the video Taylor Hall was a lock to go 1st or 2nd overall in the NHL draft. He would not even had to have played a single playoff game. However is this what it is all about?
I think not , it is about working all year as a group as a team to win a championship, your midget year, an OHL championship, a Mem cup , and maybe a lord stanley. But you can bet your bottom dollar every single one of those champion teams have lots of banged up boys playing till the end !

All we can do is hope for the best......the heart of the remaining troops has been amazing. Let's go get it boys.

Go Spits Go !

Question is are they fully recovered and how much will they play? Could also be motivation for the younger group. Time will tell and there is still time for scratches
Brocklehurst also dressing for warm-up, probably in case one of these 3 can't go.

Rangers taking dumb penalties.
Windsor should benefit.
As long as refs don't even it up later
