Windsor Spitfires 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part V

Well Joey was average at best tonight. Tide is turning now. The Rangers have the momentum going back home and in the series now. The injuries/scratches have caught up with us. Yikes the series we anticipated is alive and well unfortunately. Most said 6 or 7 as did I and here we are.

Joey puck handling skills r below average..

You can't blame the boys for the loss tonight. An insanely depleted roster with 8 players out. Kitchener is catching a historic break here.
Greentree out, goes without saying.
Belchetz, Spellacy, Davis out: that's a 2nd line;
Woodall , Mathurin out: 2 of the top 4 d-man.

Not even sure the Knights would be able to overcome that many injuries. Despite the preseason roster iced tonight, the Spits managed to outshoot the Rangers. A few different bounces and it would have been a completely different game.

Kitcherner 1st goal. Cristofo fell which created the 2 on 1 and a goal. Kitchener's 3rd goal, errant pass goes off a skate right to a Rangers player who has an open net. Protas had two partial breakaways and did not score. Still managed to generate a ton of chances somehow with 1.5 lines. Can't be disappointed with that effort in any way.

Losing if the opponent is better is one thing, but losing because you have 8-10 regulars out is another. Tough to swallow. No one expected back for game 6 (maybe Greentree) so, we will be heading back to the WFCU Centre on Tuesday night. Greentree took warmups, even did his one-timer routine near the end of it, but apparently was vomiting after. He's been sick since Tuesday, hopefully by Sunday he's good to go.

Oh word around the rink is they are just waiting for the Blackhawks to give the OK on Spellacy. Not sure if it's true but it's the rumour. Best case we have Grentree back for game 7 and that's it, unbelievable stuff here.

"Next man up" approach can only go so far. Props for the effort but let's get anyone back, ideally starting with Greentree.
Funny I was thinking the same thing. Next man up is the way it should be approached but they are running out of fish bowls and junior B players to wear them. Never seen so many injuries and if Lemieux can't go Sunday they will be down 10 players. Looks kinda insurmountable at this point.
May be a blessing not taking this team to the slaughter in London.
Also to be honest i'm a little surprised Kitchener looks no better. They should be smoking a junior B team and they are not.
Doesn't matter which team goes to London. It will be over quickly.

Give me the series win then, whatever happens, happens.

Joey still had a decent showing despite some errors.

I agree with your last point. It's all for nothing unfortunately.

Ive heard Chicago was involved with the situation. Not sure to what extent.
Sounds like its' to an extreme extend by what I am hearing. Seattle did the same when we had Shane Wright but that's wasn't in the playoffs. No one is coming back the rest of the series except for Greentree.

This is why I am rattled. This Kitchener team should be blowing us out of the building with this depleted roster. Instead, the Spits had more shots, and it was a close game. This means if we didn't have the injuries, the series would have been over. Just unfortunate.
