Windsor Spitfires 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iv

As the old saying goes series isnt over until you lose in you're own barn. Tonight will see if the spits can go up 3 to none and win in the greyhounds arena. Was stunned the game was as lopsided as it was on Saturday, I was expecting alot better start and overall game from the Soo.

I'm expecting alot better start from the hounds tonight, let's see if the spits can continue to roll offensively and continue with these hot starts.

Go Spits Go!!

I'm just going off the OHL site. It doesn't list either player. I'm sure they'll give a reason on Twitter at some point. Cristoforo was hurt in Game 2 but seemed to be fine after. Unless it's a lingering thing?

Congrats to rookie forward Ethan Garden for being named OHL rookie of the week.
Garden,a 9th round draft pick in 2024 had 1G,2A in 2 playoff games to get the award.
Exciting kid to watch, I forget he was grabbed so low. Assuming because of size and American? Assumed he would go stateside?

He took a hit. It's a physical game for most players...

When he signed, the WStar said NCAA and Youngstown (USHL) had approached him. He said much of his life was about NCAA but he had become more open to the OHL. His visits to Windsor after the draft and at orientation camp impressed him enough to sign with the Spitfires.

I think Garden selecting the OHL gives him a ton of games to craft his game against bigger players. So far well exceeds expectations. Great kid, exceptional skating and work ethic. Wait until he moves up the lineup next year. Smart kid and the tally of points will come.

Cristoforo and Spellacy are both upper body injuries, per twitter. Hopefully nothing serious and hopefully it's not head related for Cristoforo after the hit in Game 2.
Fingers crossed it is not anything long term a couple of big pieces out of the lineup. You know pkayers will suit up in the playoffs at 60-70% so hoping the 2 game lead is giving them precautionary time out opposed to unable to play at all.

Per AM800, does sound like the hit on Cristoforo is what caused him to be out tonight. Beller mentioned a minor penalty on the play. Same with Spellacy. That said, Cristoforo missed four (4) regular season games over two seasons so...

Avoids all physical play..

McNamara injured in the 1st and has not returned. Spits are insanely shorthanded now without McNamara, Spellacy, Cristoforo, to add to the Mathurina and Belchetz injuries. They are playing this game with basically 9 forwards.

Refs not calling anything on the Hounds. Even the SOO announcers are pointing it out.
