Windsor Spitfires 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iv

If I'm guessing, you'll see Cristoforo out, maybe Kennedy, definitely Protas, perhaps Morneau, Spellacy, and Davis up front? I don't know how many you can sit out while calling people up. Costanzo will probably sit, could see them going Froggett or Newlove to start, then switch halfway through.

I would start Costanzo tomorrow. My philosphy is when a goalie pitches a shut out, he deserves to start the next game. Hopefully, the shutout will give him the confidence he needs and it shows the coach has confidence in him. Since there are 5 days off before the playoffs, tiring him out is not an issue. That said, I would have him on a short lease tomorrow.

Some thoughts...

- This was as 60-minutes as you're going to get. A great defensive first, got the flood gates opened in the second, and then shut it down in the third. I don't care if Sarnia's ninth, they've always played Windsor well.
- A nice hatty from Morneau. What a 15th rounder! In the post-game (YouTube), you can tell how much all of this meant to him. He'll be missed next season.
- Abraham with a couple of points. Another kid that's going to be missed. He made a comment post-game that stood out, saying the OAs in his rookie season told him to take it slow. He didn't listen and the time has flown by. Something about "I wish I had listened better." Time can be weird if you're not soaking it in; good lesson for everyone, regardless of age.
- Five assists by Protas. We were laughing. "let me guess... Protas helper? THERE IT IS!" The Spitfires' record is six in a game, back in 1982.
- Speaking of records, 52pt improvement is single-season Spitfires' record. Previous was 51 in the early Rychel years. They've had some issues this season but we're watching history. I'm going to pull a Morneau and soak it all in.
- I'm trying to think of something "Not so good", but... darn near everyone played well tonight. I'll take it.
- Woodall's hit wasn't good; I saw it out of the corner of my eye. He jumps, hits the guy in the head, and... that'll likely be a couple or four games. You can't do that in a game that means nothing.
- That said... if the trip had been called in front of the net a few seconds earlier, Woodall's hit doesn't happen. I wasn't a fan of the officiating tonight, both ways.
- I don't know the extent of Belchetz's injury but hopefully it's not a long-term thing. I know it's his leg/ankle, last I heard, so we'll see. I didn't see the hit so I can't comment much on it. I know that Walters said it wasn't Hurt's fault (post-game).
- Costanzo is not likely playing in London, per Walters post-game. My guess... Newlove and Froggett split the time. Who starts? I don't know. You'll likely see a player or two called up. Robinson seems likely with Georgetown out. Maybe someone like Hjelholt, as he was with King Rebellion, I believe. They're out of the playoffs. LaSalle is still playing so Lavigne is out. See how this plays out.

London on Friday in a game that's pretty meaningless. Get in there, play the 60 minutes, get out, and go home. I don't care if it's physical, if nobody hits, any of that. The last thing they need is another injury or suspension because they were suckered into something stupid. Thursday is far more important.

7. Soo 58 pts
8. OS 57
9. Sarnia 55

Two games left each.

Great game! Nice to see the shutout. Utterly idiotic move from Woody no call or not. But wainright never missed a shift so more milking. This could be a long term for belch, im thinking something is broken.
I will stand by this comment as i witnessed it. One of those refs last night spoke so negatively about windsor im surprised hes allowed to ref here. I was in the ref room between periods one night when he went on a tirade about how much he hates the spits and everything about them!! His bias tends to show more often then not and it was pretty apparent last night. Not nearly the first time ive noticed thats for sure. When will the ohl start holding these guys accountable???

On the broadcast last night they mentioned that Walter's had indicated that he had no intention of resting anyone tonight. I wonder after last night if he reconsiders that?
You know Hunter will have Bolton and Sim and others gooning it up tonight to get Windsor into a suspension problem. I really hope Walter's rethinks that?

I try so hard to stay away from reffing but the no call on the Beltchez hit was brutal. I can't see how the league doesn't issue something from that? Another reason to rest guys tonight. I suggested they should rest Beltchez last night and now they may have lost him for the year? I know the kids need to play but they will get their chance next Thursday. The game tonight is totally meaningless so why oh why risk it?

The game from Costanzo was exactly what he needed. I wouldn't even take him to London tonight. Hopefully he is dialed in Thursday.
Be safe.

Windsor with another win at home.
Protas had a big game
Joey was solid. Consistency would be nice.
61 got hurt. Bad for player and team.
Woodall completely stupid penalty. 2 game suspension id guess.
Smaller crowd but nothing on line for Windsor for crowd to go watch.
On to London tonight. Just get thru the game without any more injuries or suspensions would be good.

Monette’s bias has been obvious for years.

It doesn't look like they have a abundance of refs. They could do more training but they have to live with what they have it seems.
