Some thoughts...
- This was as 60-minutes as you're going to get. A great defensive first, got the flood gates opened in the second, and then shut it down in the third. I don't care if Sarnia's ninth, they've always played Windsor well.
- A nice hatty from Morneau. What a 15th rounder! In the post-game (YouTube), you can tell how much all of this meant to him. He'll be missed next season.
- Abraham with a couple of points. Another kid that's going to be missed. He made a comment post-game that stood out, saying the OAs in his rookie season told him to take it slow. He didn't listen and the time has flown by. Something about "I wish I had listened better." Time can be weird if you're not soaking it in; good lesson for everyone, regardless of age.
- Five assists by Protas. We were laughing. "let me guess... Protas helper? THERE IT IS!" The Spitfires' record is six in a game, back in 1982.
- Speaking of records, 52pt improvement is single-season Spitfires' record. Previous was 51 in the early Rychel years. They've had some issues this season but we're watching history. I'm going to pull a Morneau and soak it all in.
- I'm trying to think of something "Not so good", but... darn near everyone played well tonight. I'll take it.
- Woodall's hit wasn't good; I saw it out of the corner of my eye. He jumps, hits the guy in the head, and... that'll likely be a couple or four games. You can't do that in a game that means nothing.
- That said... if the trip had been called in front of the net a few seconds earlier, Woodall's hit doesn't happen. I wasn't a fan of the officiating tonight, both ways.
- I don't know the extent of Belchetz's injury but hopefully it's not a long-term thing. I know it's his leg/ankle, last I heard, so we'll see. I didn't see the hit so I can't comment much on it. I know that Walters said it wasn't Hurt's fault (post-game).
- Costanzo is not likely playing in London, per Walters post-game. My guess... Newlove and Froggett split the time. Who starts? I don't know. You'll likely see a player or two called up. Robinson seems likely with Georgetown out. Maybe someone like Hjelholt, as he was with King Rebellion, I believe. They're out of the playoffs. LaSalle is still playing so Lavigne is out. See how this plays out.
London on Friday in a game that's pretty meaningless. Get in there, play the 60 minutes, get out, and go home. I don't care if it's physical, if nobody hits, any of that. The last thing they need is another injury or suspension because they were suckered into something stupid. Thursday is far more important.
