Froggett, Costello, Protas, Garden, Winegard all out with illness. Let's hope it passes quick and they can get back to healthy by Friday. Get out of this game with a point or two and no injuries/suspensions.

I say you let them rest & get the whole next week off too! Definitely not because you play Sarnia next. Hell let Greentree take a break too. Just looking out for the players!

It's hard to argue with the effort so far. They're making the best of a bad situation and staying in the game. Could this or that be better? Of course. Am I content with a 2-1 deficit and just 28 shots against through two, given how the first period started? Yep. We'll see how the third goes but I won't hang my head on this one right now.

You never want to see a loss, but given the situation, the effort was there and Costanzo stood on his head, showing he's back to his old self. I'll take the little wins and run with them. Get the team back home, get them healthy this week, and get ready for Sarnia on Friday.
Joey played well.
D not well

Windsor after their(2 illness filled roster) losses this past weekend Spits are now 10-4 in their past 14 games played.
Good thing is that of the 14,9 of them were on the road in which they were 5-4 and they were 5-0 at home.
They scored 66 goals in the 14 games and allowed 51.
Struggled a bit on the PP scoring 21%
but did very well on the PK going 86.1%.
Ilya Protas in 12 games led the team with 11G,16A,27 points,Liam Greentree in 14 games contributed 12G,14A,26 points
Jack Nesbitt and Ryan Abraham both contributed 5G,11A,16 pts, while Cole Davis had 14 points in only 11 games ,7G,7A.
Anthony Christoforo continues his fine play in the defensive side plus some offense too wound up with 5G,5A,10 pts in the 14 games.
Carson Woodall was the next best offensive dman with 2G,6A,8pts in 14 games played.
One player struggling offensive wise is AJ Spellacy in his past 13 games he has contributed 1G,3A.
In goal Joey Costanzo has played in 12 of the and his record was 8-4,goals against just above 3.50,while Michael Newlove played 2 games, won both games including 1 in relief, both on the road and had an impressive 2.60 goals average with a 906 save percentage.
Carter Froggett actually played 1 game, the 1st of the last 14,at London, got hurt 19 minutes in,didn't allow a goal but has not played since close to 6 weeks because of the Xmas break, and this past weekend he was ill and didn't dress for either game.
Overall impressed with this team moving forward need to get well and healthy, they have 1 more road game Friday at Sarnia, then play 7 straight at home, actually 8 of the next 9 games will be played in Windsor.

I'm planning on putting that weekend behind us because, while they count and "you gotta play with what you've got", a squad that's this banged up isn't the real squad.

On a different note, I got interested in what's going on with some of the prospects. So...

F Brocklehurst - 8g, 17pts, 16 games - Vipers
D Spicer - 5/9/14 34 games, 80 pim - CCHL
D Wathier - 7 assists in 56 games, 48 PIM - split btwn US U17 and USNTDP Juniors.
D Graham - 3 assists in 9 games - LC U16
D Robinson - 3g, 27pts, 35 games - Georgetown JrA
F Pace - 4/1/5 9 games - TriCity USHL
F Tissier - 6/9/15 in 10 games for Kimball Union Academy

I agree with most of this. The only comment is Cristoforo is starting to push his offense at the cost of defense, he has scored 3 goals but still was -3 his past 5 games while Woodall is +3. His D partner Mathurin is +1 last 5 games. He still needs to find the balance of knowing when to push and not pinch deep first attitude. If he finds that balance he's a great asset.

Cristoforo's minuses have been in London, in Barrie, and in Oshawa, the latter two were especially tough given the depletion. Even Mathurin had a minus-5 in those games combined. Cristoforo remains second among OHL D in +/- (tied for third in OHL). Do I think he pinches more than he needs to? At times, yes. Some of that's systematic, some is a guessing game. As long as he's producing, though, I'm going to let it ride.

Pinches way too often.
Seems to be not in defensive zone often and when he is, he is hanging with Joey not covering anyone

This is not attacking you. I agree he started and has been really good overall, he is now teetering on that slippery slope since his name has been back in the draft conversation. Plus/minus is arbitrary based the team and line they are on. Last year he was -43 on a crap team. Comments were it is because of thd team. This year +/- is great, the opposite on a good team. Now its because he's great. That's why I compare stats amongst teammates over the same stretch. Team scores 5 goals 5 on 5 but player A coughed up the puck 3 times directly allowing 3 goals, he's still plus 2 for the game, thats good right lol. Not

He's improved 76 points over last season (plus-minus). It's kind of a "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" situation... is he better because of the team, or is the team better (in part) because he's improved? I think it's a little of both. He's going to make mistakes but, if you look at that side, you can't deny the improvement, too. I'm taking the last two games with a grain of salt because of the team-related issues. Not just from him, but as a whole. They're approaching a long home stand; if he still puts up minuses, while everyone else is a plus, then there's cause for "okay, what's happening?" If it's pluses while everyone else is a plus, then that's more like himself.

I think the point is that +- is a stat that can only take you so far. Even if you want to point to his ranking it's not likely based on +-. It's a team based stat. Honestly the +- for a player on a terrible team means the same if the player has a good +- on a real good team.

What in his defensive game in his own zone/ nuetral zone/O zone have you noticed a substantial improvement in I think is the question.i don't watch enough to know but if you could point out or quantify the personal improvement it would help.( again don't watch him enough so can't say but you do)
What of these does he do better than last year. I'm sure there are some and it's not a dig at ya, honestly curious where his improvements are.
- I read he was good at blocking shots last year, is he better this year at it?
- does he retrieve pucks quicker on dump ins providing extra time for an easy outlet when they dump.in his corner?
- does he provide interference to give his D partner more time on dump ins better?
- does he win more 1 on 1 battles in corners or on the boards
- is he better at lifting sticks in the blue ice
- is he in better position as an outlet if the team needs to regroup in nuetral or DZone than last year?
- does he support the puck on rushes to keep a turnover from quickly being turned into a rush by an oppenent better? ( good O control is good for D)
- does he stand up better n defend the centre ice line than last year? ( an underrated skill/team commitment that forces icing or dump ins that O team lose possession on)
- does he have a more active stick or quicker feet in the D zone than previous?
- does he hold the OZone blueline and prevent outlet passes better n keep OZone control?
- does he slide down the half wall on reversals to keep pucks alive offensively at the right times more often?

Give us readers some actual insight as a regular at games, fan with some access to the team and/or media pregame

I'm honestly just curious. I read he sucks, he's good, he sucks he's good but there is rarely an attempt other than +/= to show the improvement. Heck HL had him on par or ahead or Parekh n Dickson year 1.
You watch enough and long enough there's gotta be sonething. It'll help silence the nay sayers
