Assuming the Spellact rumours are valid, Bowler can get creative here. Another forward NEEDS to be acquired if he is on the way out. Use the picks acquired for Spellacy to bring in McCue or Paquette.

If Petrovski is out of the question due to his history with Walters then I guess Smith is the other option? Again, doesn't make sense to acquire him. Another OA would have to be dealt. Abraham has playoff experience.

Not sure how many other veteran d-man are even on the market, Ride? Another interesting player that could be acquired and is back next season, is Mews. I think he sort of requested a trade earlier this season.

Also, how many teams would Spellacy be open to going? If ice time is the issue would he get that ice with a contender? Interesting decisions to be made.

We’re sure Mathurin’s still hurt? I don’t feel an ‘upgrade’ over Mathurin would be worth it for additional cost. He’s been steady back there

From what I understand, he's sooner rather than later.
BB believes London can be beaten this year, so take that at face value.

See, I've heard the opposite, that it's London's year so he'll tinker and then make the big run next season.

I enjoy hearing/reading/seeing the possibilities but, at the same time, it'll be nice to get the moves going so we have some clarity.

Ride is one I had thought about earlier. He's big, more physical than he was before, and is an 05.

Unless they bring in a forward in the same deal? I said earlier, Luchanko (or Walton, etc) for Spellacy and throw picks on both sides to even it out.

IMHO all 3 OA's stay.
1 or 2 Spits will be traded along with some picks.
Players coming back will make this team better this year AND next year.
And 1 trade will be a jaw dropper that nobody saw coming.

Nothing wrong with taking a stab at it this year and still being in a position to be competitive next year.

The WJT showed that any team can be beat if you throw them off their game and out work them. Trophies don't get awarded until May.

Be safe

I’m confused. You already have Connor Walton. You can’t possibly be referring to Keiron Walton for Spellacy and picks? If so, please don’t be offended but you’re delusional. If you really want Walton this year and you don’t wanna give up your big 08 first rounder, I’d say you can’t afford him. As I’ve mentioned before, if you really want him for next season best to draft well in the spring and save your high end draft picks..
Best of luck the rest of the way. You have a real nice team.

Spellacy, Manzo and picks ?

Doubt Spellacy would go to OS but the deal could make sense
I have to believe that Spellacy has a gold package so he could veto any trade. However, if he wants out bad enough, he will go anywhere. I need to remind everyone that Spellacy wants out is a product of these boards. We will find out in the next six days if there is truth to it.

Has the criticism of Spellacy been bad? Pointing out if a player has struggled isn't really criticism. I would say Cristoforo has faced a heck a lot more than Spellacy. I think Spellacy has been fine this year and I would say an NHL pick is probably more critical of himself if he has struggles. I would prefer he stick around because rarely do you come out on the better end of trades where a player wants out or if he dictates the terms.

One thing about Kieran Walton/Spellacy - we were discussing level of player that we would want if we're trading Spellacy. It would have to be someone very productive, as opposed to "Spellacy for a couple of picks." Match value for value.

Correct. I've heard that there's a desire for a bigger role but, beyond that... I don't *want* to trade him. Good kid, incredible speed, good defensively, size, and good offensively. IF he's moved, I just know what I want in return.

Hopefully these deals start happening soon, get the speculation over with.

Maybe Spellacy and Manzo for Musty and picks would be a decent deal to make for Windsor. Spellacy will have a huge boost in responsibility as Sudbury could use a top 6 player like him. Musty would be an immediate help offensively to Windsor and push the needle.

It think this deal helps Sudbury as much as Windsor

The bigger need is on D. So if moving both for one player, that should be a top 05 D

Or add picks for a deal like McCue/Petrovski or Bedkowski

I can't see Owen Sound having any interest in moving Bedkowski. He's a late 06 and first time draft eligible this season. Good chance he comes back as an OA. I expect he'll be a big part of the team next season and potential captain on next year's team.

What I’ve heard recently is Musty’s now staying. Of course anything can change, but sounded like with him requesting a trade early, the market was tested and no one was willing to pay. He reported back because there wasn’t a destination and SJ wanted him playing hockey.

Musty doesn’t make sense here as I’m also still hearing Bowler is looking at next year, and isn’t going “All” In.

Now I know KWalton is loved in Sudbury, and I can’t imagine the price tag on him. But he’ll be back next year, has insane offensive ability, and his twin brother is in Windsor. Not saying that means it has to happen, but if Sudbury and Windsor are partners, I see Walton more likely to be involved than Musty. Musty would be a 3 month rental and at the cost, I doubt Bowler would pay.

I like Musty but, if I'm going for a rental, it's KSmith.

This.

There's still talk out there today with Konnor and Windsor, so who knows. Ideally, I'd love Konnor (or a really solid 05D) and a top-six 05F.

I agree, I think if we’re picking up anyone that’s around for a just few months, it has to be that long desired strong D Man. KSmith fits the bill, and if Brampton’s No Trade Clause rumor stopped the deal, I suppose Windsor could be back on the table.

For What It’s Worth, I’ve heard zero connection between Sudbury and Windsor (Musty, DeAngelis, Walton - who’ve all been brought up at one point or another)

Sure I get that. And Spellacy an 06 C with size, physicality, perhaps the fastest skater in the league, NHL drafted 3rd Round with, NHL shot and developing his offense. Wears an “A” with leadership. So similar value I’d say.

I'm not sure they'd do that. Spellacy seems like a DeGray player so I could see them having interest but Spellacy is very likely done at the end of next season and Bedkowski is more likely to return for an OA season. It's a fair suggestion but I don't think it works as a straight one for one sort of deal. Plus, I think Owen Sound really loves the Bedkowski type of physical/mean, big rangy shut down anchor D on the blueline.
