Owen Sound GM said 4 hours ago he is trying to move him. The announcement was to let their fans know their captain is likely a goner.

He also said the current overpaying price for players is ridiculous. Hoping that means "hey fans I am not going to get as much as hoped" benefits the Spits. He also said he won't be dressed until a deal is completed.maybe a personal escort BB bringing him back in person lol. Alot depends alot on the player picking which teams he'll accept a trade. He also mentioned interest in George but said that would be "stupity" but the fact his name was brought up might have traction as a warning prep to thier fans.

I want to say that article gives me some direction in which to believe, but... I'm still not sure. I'm still very much in the "bring Konnor home" boat, but if it's Petrovsky or even a deal with Guelph, so be it.

Maybe both Petrovsky and Smith lol. Smith is the obvious easy move asset being an hometown OA. Now Petrovsky is an 05, so if Owen Sound is in a 2 yr rebuild strategy alreadu knowing how strong both London and Spits should be next year, maybe George is also available. Not saying the Spits would be in but being an 06 George would be back next year while grooming Windbiel or Newlove should say Joey wants to go NCAA next year. No rumor that I know of that but if that is a factor we need an excellent veteran goalie next year to lead the youngsters.

Teaching defense would help also..

I just don't see how Smith makes sense. You need to move an OA out. You're short in regards to forwards and they wouldn't be moving Mathurin. Some of that makes such little sense.
Moving Abraham for a quality D makes sense especially if somebody like a Walton, Musty or Luchanko is brought in. BB will go big or go home this in the next week Fasten your seat belts.

Is Costanzo to NCAA next season something that's got any traction or ?

I don't know what a deal with OS could look like because, as we've seen in the past, Bowler throws curveballs out there like he's Barry Zito. You expect a straight shot and, wham, "gotcha!" LOL this could be as simple as Konnor for Abraham with picks each way, Petrovsky for Manzo + picks, or even Guelph and Paquette for Gaymes + picks. It could become much more complicated in the Smith + George + a depth forward for Abraham + Froggett/Newlove + Gaymes + picks... I don't know. Full disclosure, I'm just throwing ideas out there, not saying any are remotely close to what would happen. Just how complicated we could get.

I know that Bowler is looking to slightly buy with the target of next season. I know he's been in on the Konnor stuff and he's talked to Guelph about players. Beyond that... tick tock.

Is moving Abraham for Smith and moving Spellacy as rumored for a forward an improvement though???

In a sense, yes. Right now, Abraham has been kind of lost in the production shuffle. I like what he can bring when he's playing the right way but he's overshadowed by Protas, Greentree, Belchetz, Davis, and even Spellacy and Morneau at times. If you deal him for Smith, that improves the back end significantly while not affecting the core up front too much. Spellacy would require a significant return. I said last night that I'm not dealing Spellacy unless I get true value in return, like a Luchanko-type guy. He won't be traded for a depth 05 and a pair of picks.

Spellacy's offense numbers are easily replaceable. His defensive forward skills and speed are his assets but he has never been highlighted to improve his offensive skills. 2nd-3rd line minutes and 2nd PP at best. Would if BB bought in a Musty ,Walton or Luchanko all 2 pts per game players. Would if he brings 2 of those players and adds 2 solid D?? Windsor becomes scary as hell.

Bowler may lay his chips in this year because of Protas who noone could have expected his results. Honestly, he is the most NHL ready player we currently have. Next year imports will be a stretch at best without selling the farm to get 2 good ones. Draft selection dictates that. Combine that with our current 05 crop. Alot of work to do. Bowler went and got Wright to compete with London and here we are again.

I don't think he'll aim to compete with London. The target is more likely a couple or three rounds, hopefully, and then see what happens beyond that. I haven't heard anyone say he wants to go toe-to-toe with London... or anyone wants to do that, for that matter.

The team currently as is should get to round 3 where the defensive play will fail most likely. Why make any moves if that is BB end goal this year? Like poker, sit on the hand you have or go all in. Bowler is more of a gambler. His job is to fill the stands. Nothing like a London/ Windsor rivalry to do that. Next year with both teams expected players to return will be similar.

Buying this year likely cheaper than next year given everyone who has mailed the trophy to the Knights on paper.

I'd think his priority Owen Sound target is Konnor Smith but one never knows.
I keep hearing Smith is headed to Brampton.

But Brampton has Leskovar and Sova both 04’ defensemen. Leskovar hasn’t played since October… assuming injury? He’s NHL drafted.
They have Lebevre up front who I think would be their OA out.

Abrahams last 5 games where he’s logged 11 points has made me less fine with moving him out. He’s limited his bad angle shots, and seems to be skating really well. I’m now not sure what OA goes out if one comes in.

We’re sure Mathurin’s still hurt? I don’t feel an ‘upgrade’ over Mathurin would be worth it for additional cost. He’s been steady back there

That Brampton deal seems all but dead at this point. There was an issue with a no trade that they couldn't get waived to move. I think Konnor Smith is back on the open market.

Owen Sound
As an Owen Sound fan, Konnor Smith is healthy but being held out until traded. If Bowler is watching the Attack, my money is on Sam McCue as the target. It would be expensive to get both but Smith would bolster any blueline and McCue would be an excellent depth piece on a contender. McCue is almost certainly back next year as an OA as well which fits Windsor's window. Neither player played for Walters in Owen Sound so there's no baggage there from his time in Owen Sound. Just my opinion but that's what makes the most sense I think.

Petrovski technically fits as an 05 that would also likely return as an OA but he does have a history with Walters and I'm not sure that's a fit for a second stint together.
