I know that the majority on here think we should take a bit more of a conservative approach this deadline and the price would be huge but I was thinking, with London getting Allen and Konnor Smith looking like he’s going to Brampton, Have Gibsons possible suitors been narrowed down a bit and could the Spits make it happen? To me it also helps that we have a back to back in Soo after the Christmas break so there could be a chance for in person talks. Just a thought

Forgot to mention ton that while he might not be, Gibson is an 05 so he could potentially be an OA next year for us too

I don't think that's a plan either though. All 1st rounders have NTC. Spits wanted to go for it in 11 and Webermin blocked a huge trade. All 1st rounder have the power. Not saying it can't work but that's your 1B plan. Need a better solution or plan than that.
I didn't say plan I said option. 1 st rounders get traded almost every year so it is something that can be considered. Not all first rounders see going to a team to get more playing time with a rebuilding team as a bad thing. So it is another option in the tool box.

I’d put good money on Abraham being moved out after the trade freeze. What he brings in return, and what OA is brought in to replace him, I don’t know. No idea on his destination either. Maybe Flint? Saginaw?

This is one of those topics where I'm constantly going back and forth with myself. My gut says he's moving, whether it's for Smith or another situation, but I know the team really likes his abilities and production. I feel for the kid; he's not in an easy spot.

Ok so Gibson might be unrealistic but what about Lukas Fischer on Sarnia? Captain of the team and he’s an 06 so he fits our core. Theres also Mitch Young from the same Sarnia team. Not afraid to play a physical game and he’s an 05 so could be back next year and a lot cheaper than others on the market.

My personal feelings are spend with gains this year combined with returning next year. Now if it was Abraham plus a 3rd and 4th/5th for Smith ok. Not/liklely the asking price.

Absolutely great suggestion. I love Fischer and big bloodline. Returning player possibility makes sense.

I doubt they deal Cristoforo and I can't see them dealing Woodall right now. It feels more like Manzo or Lavigne, plus multiple picks (2nd/3rd/5th kind of thing) if they're targeting Fischer.

Out of the 3, Cristo, Manzo, Woodall, I'd keep Woodall who exceeds expectations 10th rounder. Given same ice time and 1st line/PP mI minutes would meet or exceed Cristo numbers. Fischer has 5 goals in 19 games. His offense matches Cristoforo with way better defensive ability and grit. Move Cristo and Manzo and a pick for Fischer. Fischer liklely to return as St Louis does not rush young D, fill 2 more D spots with a good OA and Import for next year and D is looking much better. Lavigne draws little attention.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it...

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday's, y'all! There's bickering, stupid arguments, etc. etc. etc, but this is still one of my favourite places to sit back, coffee, and talk hockey. Stay safe, enjoy the time with friends/loved ones/pets, and get ready for what's likely to be a "wtf just happened?" deadline.

If you move Manzo AND Cristo, you'll need to fill the space somehow. Winegard isn't it lol
As it winds down in 2nd half and playoffs 6 are the norm. Still have Winegard and Lavigne to fill the 7 role find out whether Lavigne is ready or not. Better to test him now than in a go year.

Re Fischer agree any price will be very high if Sarnia wishes to move him especially being an 06,would retrieve more then what London just paid for Allen.

My feelings are that Lavigne has not progressed so far to some expectations, in fact I would take Hjelholt before Lavigne, just a month older despite being an 06 December birthday while Lavigne is a January 07 born.
Toss in the fact there are 4-08 dmen to consider for next year,Robinson, Wathier, Gram who played with Garden last year and Spicer a big tough dman, with college considerations different now I can 2 or 3 of them signed by next year
Now do I think Lavigne can make this team next year honestly have my doubts especially if any 2 of the 4 I just wrote about and they are 08 s as well just don't see it happening for him.

I don't know what Sarnia would want from him given it's the division and he's their captain. It's tough to say "here's Cristoforo, Manzo, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd." That seems like a lot.
Oh, I didn’t know you were adding Cristoforo in the deal. I’d be surprised to see a Cristoforo/Fischer deal and I’m not sure what the pick value would be to make up that difference but yeah, Cristoforo/Manzo 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd would be a lot to give up. I could see Sarnia asking for something like that though initially.

I don't *want* to move Cristoforo as I think he's earned a shot to stick with the club through a run. I don't even think Fischer is necessarily a target for multiple reasons (price, captain, 06, division). It was more just me throwing things out there as the topic was brought up.

No chance they are trading Cristoforo. He's a big part of the success this season. I could see Manzo and picks. Or trade Abraham and use the picks received for him + Manzo and some of their own picks for a d man.

Manzo + 2nd + 2 3rds + 2 4ths or something could get you a Petrovski type defenseman.
