The site is back up and running and plenty of tickets still available. If they get more than 2500 tonight, I'll be surprised. I mean, no disrespect to Guelph, but a non-rival the Thurs before Hallowe'en....

Remember all it takes is one incident and you can have a rival!

WINDSOR
Short on forwards again going into the weekend as per the line-up. I guess rolling 4 lines is not in Savards wheelhouse. Peer has been pretty effective and works hard. Scratched ouch. He is not the issue.

Agree about Peer,he should be playing tonight.
Would have gone with 12 forwards tonight

First period was Downey playing well versus Guelph goaltenders struggling.

Guelph outplaying Windsor after Windsor went up 2 - 0 with Windsor getting the breaks.

If Ladd actually takes the man on the PP Guelph doesn't score. No one from Windsor playing any type of physical game which is why they've been outplayed so far.

If Downey continues like this the rest of the game he has to start the next game.

Spits with a 4-1 lead after 1,even Guelph outshot them 18-8,18-5 after Windsor scored 2 on the games 1st 4 shots and Oster pulled by Burnett.
Spits defense sloppy in the 1st,Downey great 1st period.
9 different Spits picked up at least a point in the 1st
4 scored goals,Miedema, Johnston, McDonald and Cuylle.

A little better second period with Windsor leading 5 - 2.

Guelph with a nice PP goal but other than that Downey still bailing them out, particularly on Windsor's PP.

Abraham gets the Windsor goal in the period, having a nice multi point game.

Spits up 5-2 after 2
Much better period by Windsor not as sloppy as the 1st,Downey continuing to play well,Spits outshooting Storm 11-8
2 more Windsor players picked up points,Damico and Ride with assists on a goal by Abraham, his 3rd point of the night.
Both Guelph goals have come on the PP,they are 2-2 in that area,Windsor's 5 goals all at even strength as they are 0-2 on the PP.

Windsor with the 6 - 3 win.

Downey keeps them in the game with some key saves.

Some bright spots and not so bright spots for the rest of the team.

Good to see the team put up six goals with the rookies being big contributors.

Vets need to get it together.

Windsor has to start Downey against Kitchener. The kid has earned it.

Bowler has to do something about only carrying 12 forwards. They should be carrying 14 and rotating a couple in and out every game or every weekend.

One bright spot in tonight's 6-3 win was 13 of 18 skaters for Windsor registered at least 1 point.
In fact 2 rookies had 3 points each,Abraham 1G,2A,who was named 2nd star,Miedema the same 1G2A,named 3rd star and goalie Kyle Downey was named 1st star deservedly so ,stopping 36 of 39 shots shot his way
Guelph was 2-4 on the PP,only scored 1 even strength ,while Windsor went 0-2 with the man advantage, but scored 6 even strength goals by 6 different players.
The only players for Windsor not getting a point were forwards,Zito,O'Flaherty and Baisov, along with dmen Deangelis and Renwick.
Actually I was impressed with most of the kids on this night, especially Abraham, Miedema, Downey, Deangelis, Ride,Burkett, not so much on this night with Cuylle, D'amico and Zito.
Did like Johnston, Maggio and McDonald however.

A few thoughts:

- Downey has to get more starts. You can see the confidence. He's calm and collected, doesn't get rattled. What more do we want to see? Start him on Saturday and see how he does.
- The defence is slowly growing on me. I really liked Ride's game; physical, smooth skating, always looking for the next move. Once he fills out, he'll be a force.
- Ribau's adjusting well, made a few nice plays and hits, and got his first goal.
- The youngsters are finding their legs, growing more comfortable with the league. Guys like O'Flah and Burkett don't get tons of ice, but they make the most of their shifts.
- Cuylle did have a nice tilt with Windsor-native Charlie Paquette at the Spits' bench. A couple of slashes and they swing away. Lots of support in the house for Paquette.
- Some nights, you get outshot horribly but manage to capitalize on your chances... and come away with the win. That was tonight. The Storm struggled in their own zone and the Spits took full advantage. Thankfully, Downey was on his game and kept them in it over the first 40 min.
- Miedema isn't flashy but the kid can get it done. I like his style.
- On the other hand, Abraham is speedy, feisty, and you forget he'll put up points, too. Slowly but surely.

Actually Miedema is totally flashy, or maybe you just forgot that between the legs breakaway goal from the preseason. I like his style too though.

I disagree that Downey gets the next start, Kitchener is not Guelph to begin with. Secondly we need to see if Medina is going to respond before just giving the net to Downey. Medina has been good in the past when he's had to fight for the job, and he deserves his opportunity to do that here.

Cuylle dropping the mitts, attaboy. Windsor hockey, hopefully the kids paid attention. ;)

Spits are 2-1-1 in their 4,and after dropping the season opener are 3-2-0-2 in their last 7 with 4 of those 7 on the road, could easily beat 5-2 with the 2 shootout losses.
That being said would like to see improvement from the likes of Cuylle and D'amico upfront, bad gaffe by Cuylle could have been real costly.
Defensively not going to complain only 7 - 5 on 5 goals against in the last 4 games, and 3 of them were in the 3rd period last Saturday at Owen Sound,1 last Thursday vs Owen Sound,2 in Kitchener and 1 tonight.

Re Medina I understand your point, and because he played so well last Friday in Kitchener I am leaning towards Medina for Saturday's game vs Kitchener, but I wouldn't protest if Downey got the nod seeing he has won 2 straight at home, only giving up 2 even strength in his last 2 starts, filled in nicely last Saturday when Medina got yanked.
If it were anybody but Kitchener Saturday it would be 100% Downey, here I am torn.
Next week,Wednesday in Flint, definitely Downey and take it from there.

Medina played well in Kitchener last weekend and, if he gets the nod, that's fine. Downey's showing he's ready for more time, though, and they'll have to find that for him.
I agree. Coach needs to reward Downey for his efforts between the pipes as if to say, 'you continue to play like that and you'll get more starts'. And, gaining the coach's trust will give Downey added confidence, and also the rest of the team (6 goal performance). In short, go with the hot hand.
Medina has struggled... give him a rest, a reset. FWIW, he does have the best haircut in the O.

Windsor with the win.
Got the bounces which is always helpful.
Downey played well.
Medina should get used to just sitting on the bench n let downey play for awhile.
Defense was bad again. Nothing new.
Team needs more forwards.
Bowler time to do something.
Bigger test on Saturday.
