Win or McDavid?

Buzz

Don't we already have a few of those on our current roster?

I'm not liking that Kylington requested a trade because he felt he wasn't getting enough icetime. A lot of potential, but nobody wants a primadona. And like you said, His style is also pretty similar to our current D prospects.

I was just trying to be funny. Buzz Kylington.

buzz·kill - a person or thing that has a depressing or dispiriting effect.

Those two examples are outliers on either end of the spectrum. Not the norm.

I think what both of those show is that teams are made into contenders from the front office and not by a few players.

Outside of a few years (namely 2002, the "greatest team ever" Wings juggernaut), the difference between the spending of the Stars and Wings during their best years wasn't that pronounced. In fact, it only averages out that the Wings spent 3.4 million per year more than the Stars between 1998 and 2008.

What I'm saying is that the Stars absolutely bought their way into the playoffs as well. The Stars spent an average of $50.3 million per season. That's $17 million more per year than the Phoenix Coyotes over the same span. The Dallas Stars were the Yankees of their division, make no mistake.

As for win vs McDavid, fans of the team should be hopeful this team starts winning. If not, that means your core players stink. Benn, Spezza, and Seguin should be enough for a playoff team.

The numbers for those salaries.

Stars
1998–99 $39,800,000 (lower; 9 mil) -9
1999–2000 $42,300,000 (lower; 1 mil) -10
2000–01 $50,050,000 (lower; 5 mil) -15
2001–02 $48,710,352 (lower; 18 mil) -33
2002–03 $69,570,169 (higher; 1 mil) -32
2003–04 $68,578,885 (lower; 9 mil) -41
2005–06 $40,651,480 (higher; 1 mil) -40
2006–07 $43,877,000 (higher; 4 mil) -36
2007–08 $49,420,000 (higher; 5 mil) -31

Wings
1998–99 $48,300,000
1999–2000 $43,400,000
2000–01 $55,107,500
2001–02 $66,643,750
2002–03 $68,410,506
2003–04 $77,856,109
2005–06 $39,578,300
2006–07 $39,872,000
2007–08 $44,633,000

On my phone and editing is annoying, sorry to copy your entire post.

Those three guys are not surrounded by enough talent at any position to make this team an automatic playoff team. They are not failing the team is failing.

Let's make some fruit salad today (Uh huh uh)
It's fun to do it the healthy way (Uh huh uh)
Take all the fruit that you want to eat
It's gonna be a fruit salad treat!

McDavid Race Alert:

Lots of games to watch for tonight in the race to the bottom!

CBJ vs WSH
BUF vs Calgary
NJD vs PHI
CAR vs Tampa Bay
COL vs WPG
ARI vs NSH

Let's pick up those points guys!

Wow I just realized we sit almost 20 points back from first overall. 10 points back for the last wild card spot. Ya hate to say this, but I think we might benefit more finishing bottom 5
At least the draft would be exciting lol

McDavid Tank Watch:

Good morning fellow tankers! You will be pleased to know that the competition didn't fair well last night.

Buffalo won another one, beating the Flames 4-3. Philly won over NJD. Columbus won their 5th straight in an upset over the Caps. The Avs beat the Jets in a SO as the Stars pulled ahead of them for last in the division!

The stage as been set for a 4-pointer, showdown between McDavid race hopefuls yours truly, the Dallas Stars, and a very bad NJD team this Saturday night. These are the games you have to lose folks!

Happy tanking!

Current Draft Seed: 7th

It's 6th atm, right? :sarcasm:

1. Oilers
2. Carolina
3. Arizona
4. Buffalo
5. Columbus
6. Dallas
7. Philly
8. Colorado

Tied with the flyers at 25 pt :)

Y'all are correct. I miscounted.

Current Draft Seed: 6th

If we finish 3rd or better I will do backflips...assuming we didn't get bumped to 4th with a surprise lottery winner haha. Wouldn't that be the worst. To lose Hanifin because the Pens win the McDavid lottery with 1 in 50 odds or something.

WTF happened to the poll:laugh:

No, seriously. I can't see this team picking 1st-5th place at all, so just get a win. Losing with this roster is pretty pathetic, embarrassing, and of all, disappointing.

I can personally guarantee that the poll was not tampered with, in any way.

I have that kind of power.

It's legit.

McDavid Tank Watch

Well it promises to be an important day for the hopes of the tank today. Huge, must-lose game against the Devils and there is plenty of other important games that will need some boxscore attention.

OTT vs. BOS
BUF vs. FLA
CBJ vs. PIT
PHX vs. MIN
COL vs. STL
CAR vs. PHI (Come on CAR win in OT!)

We're 1 point up from 4th over all  I think we can do it. We're at a point where we realistically can't make the playoffs, IMO.

My vote for "win" was before Spezza was re-signed. Now that he's wrapped up, I say:

McDavid Tank Watch

Oh the night it could have been for our tank. Just about everyone in the basement picked up points last night. We needed a 10% effort out of EVERYONE last night to get the L, not just Ales Hemsky. We got way more effort than needed and climbed the standings as a result. If you listen carefully you can hear the ticking of the cockroach's legs as it tries to escape up the basin of the toilet before the cascade of water sends it to it's death in an underground river of sewage, but you know toilet is too steep and too slick for our cockroach friend.

The good news is that our fellow tankers helped us out. The Sens, Flyers, Sabres, Jackets, Avalanche, and Coyotes all picked up points last night. We now enjoy a few days off to give our legs some rest before resuming our quest for our Draft Day Messiah.

In all seriousness though, how about that effin Tyler Seguin? 16 goals in his last 16 games. If my math serves me correct he's on pace for about 65ish goals right now. It's still early, but If he keeps this pace for another 20 games or so, we can start watching for some records to fall. Wow.
