Win or McDavid?

If only they had lost a few more games. Who's happy about a ~#10 draft pick?

I will be happy with a pick between 7-9 this year. Can't wait for draft day!

Luckily for us, our schedule this year finishes in brutal fashion, so we likely won't be a late riser in the standings.

Don't you know we're going 10-1-1 to finish with 95 points narrowly missing and picking 14th. ;) Actually maybe I'm not joking considering all the 2 goal leads this team has blown in 3rd periods and a the .178 winning percentage (just a guess but I know I can't be far off) when outshooting opponents and backups with an even worse winning percentage. In a season of low blows, yes Kulikov I'm looking right at you because you ruined my trip to Denver where my flight was delayed and only caught the 3rd anyway because I'm a lucky Stars fan like that, why would we collectively expect any different. I don't like sports anymore... *said with a I smile as I fight through the pain of 2014-15*

Nothing to look forward to now other than a roughly 5% chance of getting a franchise savior. On the plus side I got Dallas on my first try in the draft lottery simulator, so that at least gave me a short lived modicum of joy.

I suppose searching for a way to repress the memory of this season will occupy a large percentage of my time now.

See, here's where I'm going to show my optimistic side because believe it or not it's there. 2015-16 has to be good. There is absolutely no way the numbers work against us like they did this year. Not possible, Jordan Eberle's shooting percentage eventually leveled off as seemed to be his constant knock from the haters. Eventually the Stars will not blow leads and get a back up that wins more than they lose. The team might even actually get a bounce or two when they so clearly outplay certain teams. How is Kari 24-1 in the Pacific the past 25 starts (Even if Lindback baled him out against the Oilers recently) but pretty well can't win against Philadelphia? Maybe a deep scare from yesteryear we don't know about or the broadstreet bullies simply bully him? Things are so mentally challenging within this group, and what keeps me going is a knowing there are smart guys like Klingberg and Honka coming and that Nill picked all D last draft. This team is due to take the next step and it's only mental like it is for any professional athlete or team of atheletes... the margin between good and great is so narrow and is generally between the ears, plus the talent in the game is at a peak. Stick with them, but like Jack don't look back on 2014-15.

The "nothing to look forward to" was in reference to the rest of this year. Up until recently, I was holding out a minuscule amount of hope that the Stars could go on a tear, but the loss last night appears to be the final nail the Dallas Stars' coffin.

I still think the Stars have a very bright future. The offence is already Stanley Cup caliber and while the defense is a work in progress, there is some exciting youth both on the team and in the pipeline. The goaltending has been unsustainable bad and I think even a mild bounce back to the mean in goal would make a world of a difference for this team. The Stars got a lot of cap space this off season and I think Nill is an absolutely brilliant hockey mind and I couldn't possibly have any more faith in him then I already do. Bright times are ahead for the Stars, now is just a very dark (hopefully short-lived) moment.

Ah yes makes good sense and I should have comprehended it that way however I still feel I had to clear my username though I'm sure I'm re-stating pretty well the jist of what's been said around here in recent times. Just keeping it real as the kids used to say.

I really wish we had McDavided a little more this year.

A lot of us do. Lucky for us, There's not a better year that comes to mind to have a pick between 7 and 10. We might as well have a top 5 pick in most years if we can stay where we are in the draft seedings. Keep your head up.

McDavid has almost as many votes as an incumbent mayor in Chicago.

Sucks that y'all have too many good players for McDavid :(

:laugh::laugh:

We've always got the lottery on our side.

Dallas was just always going to be too good offensively to ever be a main player in the McDavid sweepstakes. It sucks having good offensive players!??

I think Dallas hit the floor on there projections this year, and barring massive injuries to Seguin and Benn, could not have done much worse.

Let's not start popping corks just yet. The Stars have some major must-lose games ahead of them to keep a top 10 pick. The race to the bottom is much too close for comfort. With an unfortunate win tomorrow, the Stars could move into the 11th draft seed. The Sharks and Florida are not far from us in the McDavid-off either.

Great tank news: Edmonton is now in the 3rd draft seed!!! Possibly no McEichel for them haha. Getting out-tanked by Arizona. I'd love to see McDavid in Dallas :) , Buffalo, or Arizona.

Too bad Edmonton can't fall any further.

What corks do we pop when we get 8th OA? Is it King Cobra or Colt 45

If we don't win the lottery, have both of them in the East please.

This year the #8 OA is nothing to scoff at.

I want to watch Eichel and McDavid play. The east already has Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, and Malkin. I like watching talented players. Gotta share the wealth of "generational talent".

Picking at 8-12 brings me much excitement.

Lots of reminiscing back to the 2013 draft when picking at 10 was sweet because of all the talent still on the board.

Agreed. I'd be much more excited at 7-9 though. More options on the table. Our schedule get really rough towards the end, so I'd expect us to stay at this level or perhaps get down to 7th or 8th, barring some kind of unfortunate winning streak.

We're in 9th right now with 2 games in hand on Philadelphia. I honestly don't see us dropping past them or New Jersey.

It's looking like a firm 8 or higher.

What happened to your poll???

Just more evidence the Stars board is the biggest one on HF. Whichever board you came from is snoresville compared to this one.
