Not saying we could have kept them but no Graves and Severson is a huge difference. Freaking Sevo was on the third pairing, now we have Bahl top four, ooooooof. Not having Dougie isn’t helping either.
Long term this was the move to make. This team isn't closing their window, it has just opened. We're far from the final product that will hopefully bring us far. We still have young guys that are growing.

Rogalski should've been gone once we saw Wedgewood become a legit starter in Arizona and then went to Dallas with good technique and become a backup there. And he's once again their starter with Otter out. It's also a very bad look that Blackwood looks more stable technique wise in front of SJ than he did that any point last year.

It happened twice tonight. The first time I kinda gave Vitek a pass because he was already sideways and a bit in chaos but the second time............
This may be a coaching problem (that particular move) but it also shows a goalie with no confidence. Like I said, he had a player version of a nervous breakdown here long ago. He just isn’t right. He won’t be until he goes to another team.

It doesn’t mean he might not have a few good games in a row, but he’ll be a disaster here and more harmful than good for the remainder of this contract if he stays.

We can still make the playoffs. The GM messed with the team too much last year. He turned a young fast transition team into slower late 90s NY Ranger sprinkled with young stars.

The GM maybe shouldn't have signed Ruff to an extension, even coming off a good year since the playoffs weren't that great with winning one round. Ruff is part of the problem.

We still have a strong core of great young players. We need to make changes before falling too far behind the playoff pack. We can still do this.

Off to bed, never sleep good on bad losses.

Vitek sliding out of his net on that one goal is absolutely wild. Zero reason for it
He’s been doing it A LOT.

It just goes unnoticed because it doesn’t always result in a goal against him.

He’s done that every single night probably this season. He was doing it last game. He just didn’t allow a goal on that sequence.

He does this multiple times every night.

He did something like it on the post shot tonight in the 2nd period and Ferraro ripped him for it. And that (and the awful rebound he allowed that became the shot off the post) was the only sign of shakiness he showed all night until we got a visit from the Vitek we’ve gotten to know, who came out for the 3rd period.

Again, this is a sign of no confidence at all.

Kinda agree the Timo trade looking back seems forced and a move to make a move. Shara for toffy is 100% right move to make.

I mean when Henrik said on the intermission show a couple weeks ago something to the effect of Vitek battles but his technique is below average, that’s basically calling out the coaching without doing it.

Honestly, he reminds me of Cory after he was shot. Granted Cory's was more physical in that he couldn't move like he used to, but man it seems like Vitek just collapses after goals like Cory did where you were just waiting for the 2nd or 3rd goal soon after.

And I'm not blaming Vitek for this one, just more of a general observation about him. He just looks mentally shot at this point. And the frustrating thing is he's looked better lately but as you've said even bad goalies can look competent for stretches.

Because his technique is utter dogshit, nothing he does seems like any goalie coach would teach which is why I don't even think Rogalski's that at fault even though he deserves be fired for his entire tenure being abysmal here.

think goaltending really just destroyed this team mentally. It started with the playoffs last year and they just never recovered. I don’t understand regular season last year goaltending was solid the players played confident. was the hype too much for them? If they get a legit nhl goalie will it flip a script ? Sure mistakes will happen but knowing you have a legit goalie back there making a big save to bail you out 80% of the time as opposed to these clowns stopping 20%.
Another mid goalie is not making the difference you think it will. Right now I think we are looking at a #9 or 10 see in the conference. Getting a different tender from the bargain bin would at best move them up a spot or two and they get pasted in the first round.

There are deeper problems here, long-term ones that will rear themselves again next year if no changes are made to the coaching staff.
