William Nylander

The second line gets to long apart when the C and LW cant skate with Nylander . Just give Nylander players that got the speed to adapt to him not the opposite. They need some grit and scoring ability too. Not Holmberg... They should have tried Mcmann , in those nothing to loose moments against panthers.

Love don cherry but he’s nuts sounds like he’s sticcin with the leafs should have drafted Richie instead of nylander if he thinks Matthews was calling out there leading scorer and so called third best player lol

Doesn’t hate losing. He’s got great skill but zero heart or leadership. Since he had risen to the occasion more so than his teammates in prior playoff series, I was surprised how quickly he disappeared against the Panthers this year. The truth is he plays hard when it’s convenient for him and is afraid to engage physically. Can’t win with that from your highest paid players and leadership group. They need to bring in those type of players and continue to develop that with players like Knies because without it they’ll never beat a team like the Panthers.
How could you say that with a straight face? Doesn’t hate losing ?

Never Ehlers man.

Why the hell would we want that injury prone mess. We need cap flexibility for next year.

Karlsson on the other hand yes pls.
It would depend on the contract for sure. I’m interested in Ehlers because they have similar skill sets and speed. Both are zone entry wizards and could create with each other.

Too many cooks on one line. Ehlers has way too many injuries to consider. He's gonna get overpaid.

Never?

He's still the best winger available this summer (Marner aside)

Yeah we need a 2C and depth over a winger redux.
Both are needed, really, though.

You can't take 90-100 points out of Marner without putting any back. And given the options at Center (or lack thereof) in the FA pool, I'd be leaning toward using what trade assets we do have towards that.

So that leaves them likely to sign the winger, and for me, he's the best and the only one I'd splurge on this summer.

Jets want to make him a Jet for Life.

We've read all the fantasies about signing marner to an 8 year deal in a Sign and Trade right?

Ehlers will most likely get 8 years from Jets.

I'd like Ehlers, he brings some grit and will stand up for himself and drop the gloves.

Unfortunately, I think Leafs shopping list is going to be middle 6 improvement with re-signing Tavares on a " I can't believe Treliving gave him that much with that much term" deal.

Good for him if he does stay.

But if he's there on July 1st, he's top of my list anyway.

I think we need to get a centre that functions with Nylander a lot more.

William Karlsson can skate with Nylander and is responsible defensively...ideally find some grit on LW like Marchment/E.Kane too.

JT and Nylander are talented players that will produce because they're talented but they don't really seem to have any chemistry.

I would love a line of,

E Kane-Karlsson-Nylander

Any Tyler Bozak's around?

Bozak was at best a 2nd. liner, and yet he and Kessel did okay together.

Karlsson and Granlund are 2 guys I am curious about as Nylander's centre...it's basically been Matthews or JT with the occasional Domi cameo for a while now.

The issue with William Karlsson is the only reason Vegas might entertain trading him is to free up some cash, meaning, they would be wanting picks or prospects in return, and those are two things in very low supply in the Maple Leafs cupboard. I don't think he's an option.

Theory would be Marner with an 8th year (signed) to Vegas for Karlsson

They still get to run Eichel-Hertl-Roy-Howden at centre which is pretty damn good.

Barbashev-Eichel-Stone
Dorofeyev-Hertl-Marner
X-Roy-X
X-Howden-Kolesar

Karlsson produced in the 40ish point range but I like him, heck I would add a prospect or something to Marner if that's what it took to get it over the finish line.

They have Holtz, Sopovilav maybe to fill in bottom 6. We could maybe give them Holmberg or Roberson as apart of the deal

Priority has to be around getting a speedy two-way Center who can create off the rush with Willy.

I love the William Karlsson idea.

An all gas line of: Ehlers - Karlsson - Nylander…
Karlsson had 9g this year and he is 32. Maybe if they will take Rielly for him. I like Ehlers. I think he could hit a new level in TO.
