William Nylander

Yeah I know, but the bettors are pretty sharp these days, especially with all the info available to everyone so I'm pretty sure that in almost all cases, the posted lines are pretty close to what they should be.
Maybe, I think there's still tons of dumb money in the game, especially with how much marketing there is in the State rn after legalization. Especially around such a high profile team.

If you have the time, I'd read Nate Silver's book On the Edge. Very interesting.

You never know, this could be the year. :)

Of course I've been saying that for so many years now ...
I mean to be fair, outside of the BS, the Leafs have never had the goaltending to be serious nor play consistency to be contenders.

The play consistency is still a massive issue this year, it's just we have William "Walking on Water" Nylander. Also, Pats and D scoring have been huge. The D scoring is largely driven by Nylander as well.

With Willy, great goaltending. I could see us making it all the way. To win we need 5 on 5 gods from Matthews and Marner.

I think marner goes first based on his complete game, even though he lacks Nylander's higher ends tools, he has more workable tools.

Biggest diiference, opinion only, marner is better defensively.
Strong disagree.

We're getting better offensive results from our 2nd line(vet min, mediocre 2nd C and Willy) than our 35 million dollar 1st line that has Knies producing and playing the best.

If you want defence, go make it up with the awful wingers Nylander has had to carry over the years. Yes Tavares was good this year, he's mostly been in outright decline the last 4 years before this year. Willy can be a producer with Kerfoot, with McMann, with Holmberg, with anyone, it doesn't matter. He produces elite independently of his teammates quality for the most part.

That is what you want to build around. Also, winger defence is highly overrated. I'm sure Nylanders defensive stats would have looked better without a meh defensive guy in Tavares.

Reasonable take. Glad the team has both of them.

Speaking of betting, my cash out offer was 121.xx yesterday, now it's gone way up. :) GLG!!

Sometimes, I wonder if people appreciate how much Willy saved Toronto's playoff reputation here. If he doesn't show up super sayan against the Senators game 6, we were going to lose game 7 100% Then he follows it up by announcing Toronto's leading contending status for the Stanley Cup game 1.

GLG
Nylander even if he get 9 pts in 1st was not 100% engages, last night he was and he was everywhere on the ice. I said it couple of time, if he can be engaged that way at 100% on everygame, he can be as good than Mackinnon. He having that ability in him and i hope it's only the start because we need that Nylander to reach next level.
Agreed, he's also injured and slower. Haven't seen him blow by people with speed this postseason.

What you say may be true, but I think marner would be chosen because he has a better reputation, was a Selke finalist. Certainly, he's been propped up over the years playing with one of the best goal scorers in the history of the game.

Hull - Oates
Ovechkin - Backstrom
Matthews - marner

All good players.

Personally, I like Nylander more, but he's easy to like, marner isn't.

I know they hate to see him succeed but he always was the one long before the others were drafted and Hes the only one of the three getting better every year I’m happy we kept him cause it would have been the stupidest move yet and we already lost kadri for nothing

Said it about a month ago. He is like James Hunt in Driven. He is not the most consistent player but all he needs is something to click and he will win a championship.

Willy set the tone last night and the rest of the guys followed

Also interesting is he's the one often setting players before a faceoff.

Has aged like a fine wine

He’s turned into a hell of a leader and a playoff killer. Still a long way to go on this journey but he’s had a sparkling postseason so far. Let’s hope it continues well into June.
