Yeah, he'll get flying again, no doubt; he's always been kind of streaky. The good news is that we've been winning during this down streak so that at least deflects some attention from him.

The puck that he didn't pick up along the boards resulting in the goal against is just where he is right now. Not shooting, not picking passes, not controlling the puck.

The not shooting part is concerning.

He's not shooting. He hasn't scored in 7 games, but only Knies has (1) more shots.

Terrible defence. But he's usually the first one back (yes, JT and Patches are slow), and probably prevented a short-handed goal against last night. Oddly enough, he's usually the first in the offensive zone and has to cope with two opposing players while waiting for JT and Patches to catch up.

And yes, I agree he's the only player to even miss a puck shot around the boards, and is totally to blame for JT's recent giveaways.

Last year Matty went through a streak of 9 games with 1 goal and 4 assists and a -5 (playing with the greatest setup man and defensive forward ever). Willy's currently at 7 games with 0 goals and 5 assists and a -5.

To be fair, he's been their 2nd best forward this year until just recently. I wonder if him and Berube are maybe not on the same page.

Nah this is the same Willie we have seen his whole career save for the first 39 games last season. Just need to be patient because he will breakout soon. He may need a talking from Berube. Worked for Knies.

Skating on backchecking a couple of shift game doesn't make you a good defensive player or we would never talk about Phil Kessel defensive issues in his time in Toronto. It's like 60-70% Work/ battling and its a part of the game he's pretty inconsistent.

Always put the blame on everyone else... JT and pacioretty was playing great hockey together, Berube moved Nylander on this line and both became trash but its JT fault. Did JT made turnover? yeah for sure but did Nylander help his line in anything like battling, put himself in position to get the puck and whatever? Not really.

Like i always Nylander is a guy who can play his gane whatever with who he's playing when hes on. Its his ability and when he's really on, he's a beast simple as that

but at the same time his biggest issue is hes not always on and sometime hes basically completly off like last 6. When he off, for me its just Nylander ghost. He's passive, waiting for everything coming to him and we don't see him of the game. He becoming a complete ghost on the ice. Its how he is and always been and we know at a moment or an other, he will bounce back and put switch on.

If you like the nylander of last 6, your choice but perdonally i prefer the better vwrsion of him
