If Kucherov was UFA last summer what would he have gotten for his 83 and 100 assist seasons? If assists are worth half as much as goals he’s not even a 100 point player.

No doubt points are points, but goals are just more important.
The One Goal = TWO assists thing has more to do with the simple fact that you can only record A goal when a goal is scored while you can record ZERO, ONE or TWO assists per goal scored.

Now if Kuch was a UFA last season, given his age, he will get around 11mil due to that fact that he did scored 44 goals along with 100 assists and 30goals and 83 assists the year before. While being pretty much a 30 goals scorer in his career plus always performing in the playoffs.

If you miss the goal by 1meter ( 39.3700787402 inches) you will probably not get a goal , but you could get 1st assist.

That is pretty crazy sounding. 30 goal scorers fetch a premium because, now get this. They make the 10 30 guy possible and the skill to score is more rare than the skill to get an assist. This is true and self evident if only because every goal generates up to 2 assists.

If that other player does not score your so call;ed assist is essentially nothing more than a nice pass, and your team loses without the goal scorer performing their part.

Goal scorers get paid a premium. Last year Auston Matthews scored 69 goals and 38 assists on the season for 107 points. There is no way Matthews is the highest paid player in the game today if you reversed that to 38 goals and 69 assists instead. Matthews contract is based on Rocket Richard trophy result & season leading the league in GOALS. There is no trophy for leading the league in ASSISTS, unless your GOALS combined make you the leagues leading Scorer.

He’s not a max effort player all the time then again none of our players are but he’s worst than most so I get what might bother some of the boys it’s amazing he gets results and makes it literally look effortless

It all started with Babcocks hatred of Willy or that appearance. Babcock could have just trying to break in a horse. Regardless they special M club certainly were relentless until he 40 goaled them in the face.

It’s seldom as simple as that, if the 10 goal guy is your best defender and the 1st guy you put out there and the 30 goal guy never pk’s it becomes a little cloudy

I remember last season saying something like it would be wise to not put a ceiling on what Willie is capable of, but I wasn't even thinking of him being a threat to win the rocket. But now ... of course it's still early but it seems like him winning the Rocket isn't out of the question at all. Considering he's never had a set pair of linemates and he doesn't even get the ice time he should be getting, that would be an incredible accomplishment!!

Obviously the league deems playmaking at a premium that is why they award a point even for a secondary assist.
