Now would be the time you trade Nylander if you could get a very good 1st. pairing, long term on low cap hit defender, or on their ELC.

I don't think Hughes or Makar are avilable though.

But what team is going to give up that top pairing age appropriate guy? Imo thats basically zero teams.

You either get back a vet or a young guy who hasnt quite broken out yet. Imo neither optoon is particularly appealing to me

Yeah not saying we should do it (and nobody wants to trade guys who are on a roll) but if you believe in selling high then now would be a good time to trade Nylander for sure. Some people were anxious to dump him last season, you could get a boatload back for him today for sure. If Carolina offered Pesce and our 1st round pick back, I'd have to at least think about it.

Also, I'm as happy as anyone else that he's playing so well but I don't agree with those who think he's better than Marner now. He's maybe outplayed him over the last couple of months but let's not forget that Marner is crazy good. And no, I'm not suggesting a Marner vs Nylander thread, please spare me that.

Willy is killing it this year. Good on him. He's how we get a dman though.

After the Keefe takeover Nylander has paced 46 goals and 95 points. Now Marner and Matthews have the edge on Nylander because one has actually scored 40 goals and the other has actually put up 94 points, but let say this Nylander is not a fluke and he settles at 30 - 40 goals and 40 - 50 assists. In his worst seasons he's giving you 70 points and in his best he's giving you 90. Which averages out to about a ppg. All that for under 7M. No one is untradeable, but at that production to cost ratio I'd only trade him for a young 1a or 1b type guy and even then... Would you trade a player that produces almost as well as Matthews and Marner but at a fraction of their cost? If Nylander can keep up this torrid pace I don't know if you do.

I think at minium we should atleast see an end to trade proposals like "Nylander for random top-4 D-man+".

Willy is a major asset at this point in time and anything less than a top-paring D should not even be entertained in any trade proposal.

yep and not top pairing like methot was with ek in ott either. I'd take parayko, slav, and the like. Don't want to give them up? Cool. I am perfectly happy having willy because he is a beast.

How can anybody in their right mind still suggest trading Nylander? Probably the best contract on the team. His turnaround this season is the reason we are even in the play off race. Matthews is doing what is expected from him. So is Marner. Nylander is doing more. And he just keeps getting better. Id rather deal someone else..

If our players freaked out like Sid after one loss (following 3 straight wins), it would be a clear sign that they lacked the composure and poise that is necessary to win.

For the most part, I can't stand the mainstream media. For those who feel the same, I suggest you subscribe to the Athletic. The content is 100 times more insightful, and there's very little (if any) clickbait bullshit, like the link above.

The sad thing is that the clickbait bullshit does sell, and lesser-capable media exploits it. Hopefully those members of the media are replaced by up and comers who actually know what they're talking about.

I can't believe that Sid doesn't realize how Leafs fans were upset with Nylander's play last season which was completely justified and it was his own doing since he choose to not re-sign until he did. However there is nothing wrong with also pointing out how Nylander has played much better this season and it's what we were expecting of him.

Id rather players remain clam and focused on their jobs than being emotional trainwrecks. They couldnt perform as pros otherwise
