Speculation: Will we see a significant trade before the season starts?

Thinking the Fowler will be the first one dealt, Montreal Buffalo, Devils, Detroit Boston all those teams could have interest in him. Not sure of the price yet considering that BM is trying to shed salary here.

Jets fans need to give up on getting Lindholm for Trouba, it's not going to happen.

Not happening no way is a Lindholm for Trouba deal happening, Odds are if either one is dealt it wont be to a Western Conference team but a Eastern Conference team. And Trouba would be a downgrade for Anaheim probably seeking $1 million less then Lindholm do i doubt it happens.

The Jets won't be downgrading from Lindholm to Trouba....they could trade Fowler for picks and prospects to sign Lindholm if need be....

Considering that Anaheim isn't a cap team, Anaheim has $7.5 million for both Lindholm and Rakell. Lindholm seeking between $6 million per to $6.5 million per and Rakell wants around $4 million per. Fowler making $4 million per and even with 50% retention on JVR that's still $2.125 million. Still doubt this helps Anaheim. Now a deal around Spooner who makes $925,000 or so helps them tremendously.

So Lou's going to eat $2.125 million from JVR while taking on $7.25 million between Fowler and Stoner since when does that make any sense. When is any GM willing to help out another GM with their cap issues like maybe never.

Fowler definitely gets moved, Not so sure about Trouba considering that he asked for a trade way back in May and nothing has happened yet. Either he resigns back with Winnipeg or more then likely he's going to be sitting out the year. And i doubt that neither Trouba or Overhardt want that.

You miss the "plus something for taking Stoner" part? Lupul will be LTIR...and Stoner would actually play here. (The signing of Polak messes it a little though)

You can't see Trouba in Toronto? Look I don't necessarily want it as I am not sold on him as a top pair guy but it makes sense. We do need a RH too 4 D, actually I don't care if they are RHD or LHD we just need a too 4 D

Honestly i can't see Trouba in Toronto. Let's be realistic here Lou wont pay Trouba more then what Rielly is making at $5 million per. The odds that Trouba signs with any team accepting less then $5.5 million per is pretty nil. I seriously doubt that Toronto will land both Fowler and Trouba you had pretty much better make up your mind in which one would interest you the most. Because both wont happen. Button already pretty much said that if Toronto wants Trouba then Rielly is going the other way doesn't sound like Cheveldayoff wants Gardiner so take it with a grain of salt. It's pretty much come out that the only teams in on Trouba were listed as the Rangers, Bruins, Red Wings and Coyotes doubt that Overhardt is even talking to any Canadian teams.

I personally would rather have Fowler due to his contract already being in place, the issues for me is I don't want to give up JVR yet, he's currently our only top line winger, that's likely to change with Marner and Nylander but it hasn't yet.

Not to mention JVR has both a higher cap him and makes more real money than Fowler and he doesn't work for a budget team anyway.

I agree i don't see Lou retaining $2.125 million of JVRs salary for say 2 years of Fowler. Especially seeing that JVR already has a very good contract and no need to retain.

Tampa will want Forsberg for Kucherov, Nashville declines citing it as a pretty lateral move, they'd rather keep their own young superstar who's currently under contract.

If Tampa could afford Forsberg, they'd have Kucherov signed already

True but Button does have solid connection to Winnipeg, And he pretty much know's their needs. Fowler would be a better add for Toronto right now over Trouba considering what Trouba is seeking which is far more then what Fowler is currently making we shall see. I really haven't seen any links with Toronto for Fowler definitely could see Lou chasing Trouba though. These next few days should be pretty exciting i think a few deals could be made between now and next weekend.

I do not have to give up on anything. My stance is Trouba is staying with the Jets; however, the only deal I see possible (however unlikely) to have Trouba move is the Ducks having money issues and trading down to solve their problem. Until the ducks sign both RFAs, you can never say never. The Ducks are likely not getting any team to just take salary off their books so they can sign their RFAs. They need to give something to a team to solve the money issue and like it or not, Trouba on a team friendly contract might be enough. It also would not surprise me that one or both have asked for a trade as well.

There was this time where i would have said there was no chance the Jets would trade Selanne to the Ducks; however, money issues with the Jets 1.0 changed that didn't it.
