Will there be a Cinderella team this year? if so, who?

Ah yes, makes a huge difference.

Makes the playoffs on last day of season in 2023. Beats the best regular season team of all-time being down 3-1 and advance to finals

While people say Montreal is a year with covid
I don’t consider them a Cinderella team. They underperformed as they learned Maurice systems and dealt with injuries through the first half. The second half they were one of the best teams in the league. The competitive gap between FL and Boston was no where as big as the points separating them. Boston had a couple of key players injured that narrowed that gap even more and influenced the series.

The team coached by this dude.

Seems hindsight-y. Don’t remember anyone picking them to make a run in 2023, especially drawing a Boston team in round 1 that just set the regular season points record.
The simplest way I can say it is that they had that dog in em. We knew they were talented. Like the LA Kings, seed be damned. If anything, barely making the playoffs was the weird part.

I don't see an unstoppable juggernaut this year.

Tampa and Colorado seemed to have shored their holes up a bit better than others, but they're pretty far from the juggernaut teams they were when they won their cups.

Vegas slowly hemmoraging their depth year after year. Yeah, they're still a top team, but their goalie is a lot more scouted, and they lost their Conn Smyth / 30 goal scorer.

Oilers and Panthers are in the infirmary and hobbling into the playoffs after a short summer.

If St.Louis makes it to the Conference Finals, I don't think anyone would really be that surprised. But at the same time, if the Caps or Jets gets knocked out in the 1st round nobody would really be that shocked either.

I think Montreal is upsetting Washington in the first round.

I don't see it.

Every time they face TOR, they look bad. But that could just be a match-up thing (TOR has struggled against OTT recently).

I think the Capitals will work them over physically and be too much for them. I can see the Habs winning a couple of games, however.

Montreal are a legit Cup contender now with Demidov in the fold.
You forgot the :sarcasm: Some will take you serious and attack Hab nation.
On the thread. I think the Leafs take out the Sens but it will be a rough series for them. They Sens are not soft so you can never count them out.
If the Caps are really a top team than they should take care of the Habs but i have heard questions like did they play over their heads this season. If so the Habs would have a chance.
